Flavorwire compiled a gallery of "crazy DVD packagings" inspired by the recent release of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo...each description is filled with derision, mind you.

The award for coolest DVD packaging in my collection goes to the four Mondo Vision Zulawski DVDs. The runner-up goes to the steamer trunk replica for the Abbott & Costello Complete Universal Pictures Collection. But next month a challenger is coming in the form of the Barnabas Collins coffin for the Complete Dark Shadows. DVD companies sure like those coffin replicas, huh?

Best DVD Covers...ever!

Positively in love with this, worthy of creating a thread to go along with the Worst Covers one...

It's because the number of bad covers far outnumber the good...

This is the opposite of cool, I think: the DVD of Gardens of the Night is packaged not in a keepcase or hubs or slots but inside a cardboard bubble packaging ala action figures:

It's great if you're the type who never watches DVDs and just hangs them on a wall

I've seen that around lots of gas stations for a variety of titles including big ones like the Oceans movies. Are you sure that is the normal retail packaging and not just the gas station one?

It's been years since I went inside a gas station/convenience store (just swipe my card at the pump!) so now I see what I'm missing. Apparently in addition to the register area impluse buys of gum, breath mints, beek jerky, chips and key chains you can also buy a recent DVD in a giant condom. Thanks for the cultural update!

Thanks for reminding me to never use a number in place of letters.

I'm wondering why they would go to the trouble for that kind of packaging. CD cases make more sense.

It looks like an accent mark over the 'M' in Tom Arnold.

Amazing and I believe the first time those little werewolves have had a physical release?

Yeah, Wolfwalkers was bought for distribution by Apple for Apple TV+ so I wasn't sure if it was ever going to get a physical release.
