Their own personal warehouse has run out of stock and so they are not taking any more orders for 50% off.

It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World was sold-out 2 hours ago when I placed my order. Now it's back in stock...

I placed Rififi in my shopping cart with the updated sale price, though by the time I got to the final checkout page, it had sold out. Luckily, I was still able to purchase it for the sale price of $20, only now it will be coming in a separate shipment, in about a month... Just to confirm, Criterion should still uphold the sale price, correct?

Yes, in the past when this happened they sent out the item in a separate shipment still honoring the sale price.

Criterion Flash Sales are definitely an "early bird" sort of deal.

I've never had a problem before when coming to the sale late. I think the dual-format increased the rate of new titles selling out since both blu ray and dvd buyers are after the same item. Oh well, I'll just wait for the B&N sale in July.

Is there a list of the upgrades and reissues from the last couple months? For whatever reason Criterion doesn't let you sort by release date

All of those are currently listed on Criterion's 'New Releases' page (which is where I always go first when I need to figure out what I should scoop up in a fresh sale). At the moment it goes back to their December releases. (So that adds Grey Gardens to the upgrade pile.)

Also, for what it's worth, the Late Ray Eclipse set is missing from the forum's 2014 release list (came out the same day as Throne of Blood, according to Criterion's website).

For future reference: link

This is always what I use when I see a sale come up.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread or not but I was wondering if anybody on the forum had problems with items ordered from the recent flash sale. I ordered the von Sternberg box set and A Story of floating weeds. Both items came promptly enough, but the von Sternberg box set was trashed beyond belief. Corners were completely smashed in, the cases themselves were bent, the booklet was also bent at the top. I have had various different experiences with criterion Digipaks when ordering from Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Sometimes they come in perfect condition other times not so much, but nothing like the damage this time around. I was wondering if anyone else here had that experience recently?

I forget which one it was, but one of the eclipse sets I ordered during the last flash sale had been crush and pieces of the plastic case had broken off. Criterion sent me a couple of replacement cases when I emailed them about it, though.

Going by my last several CC orders, it appears that items are placed in the shipping box in the order in which they were added to your shopping cart. If you've got enough items you can try to arrange it so that the more resilient (and easily replaced) Scanovos are on the top and bottom of the pile while Digipacks or box sets are kept in the middle.

Fortunately, I received three digipack titles last Friday in mint condition...even though the shipping box was damaged. Just lucky I guess.

Weirdly enough, all of my cases were fine, but three of my booklets were crumpled.

My digipacks were in perfect condition and like the above post a few of my clear case booklets had some very minor defects. I personally do not have an issue with digipacks vs. clear cases but I understand why people prefer one over the other.

Here's something amusing. My copy of Late Ray came with the nice addition of some flour in the back wrapper for An Enemy of the People. Who knew Scanavo worked in a bakery.

Sure it was flour? Working in a plastic case factory is probably awfully dull without enhancers...

My Sternberg box arrived and was pretty dinged up at every corner (despite being packed with 2 or 3 DVDs on either side) and the sleeve was a bit crushed. But I also received an extra copy of La Notti Bianche and an Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion that I didn't order, so I can't complain.

My Sternberg was battered at each corner as well. Lubitsch Eclipse fared a bit better as it was only one side. C'est la vie.

I have never been successful in getting a copy of the von Sternberg boxset in fine condition from anyway.
