Am I correct in assuming that The Masque of the Red Death and The Haunted Palace (which are included in Shout's Vincent Price BD set) won't be forthcoming from Arrow since StudioCanal has them?

I believe this is it in terms of what Arrow has hinted at. It's too bad there is some exclusivity regardless of who you go with. People who went with the Shout Factory set for instance will still need to re-buy the first Dr Phibes to get the sequel.

Not in the UK. Scandinavia.

Sorry, I see now. In that case, I couldn't say with certainty. Probably best to email them.

If you order from the Arrow site you will come to the shipping options & they will offer 2 estimates...

For instance I keyed in one pre-order & one backorder (2items) and asked for a quote to ship these to Oslo, Norway... The Arrow site comes up with these options...
Please select the preferred shipping method to use on this order.
Your order will be sent as items become available
(EUR-GRP) Europe - Group my order £3.65
(EUR-SPL) Europe - Ship each item when ready £6.00

For the pre-orders, they always ship when they're available, no matter which shipping option you chose.

I've never paid any shipping fees at Arrow Shop (I always did £50+ orders, being in France), and always got my pre-orders one at the time. For instance, I received The Killers last Saturday in a single shipment, despite having ordered it as part of a bigger order.

However, for a mixture of pre-orders and backorders, I guess that might be the whole utility of this 2nd option.

Have Arrow said whether Milano calibro 9 is a one-off of Fernando di Leo, or are they going to release several of his films? I'd much prefer to get nice deluxe Arrow releases for each of these than getting battered boxsets from the States.

I don't remember exactly, but it shouldn't take that long. Maybe email Nicole Hughes ([email protected]) about it. There might be other people you can contact but she helped me out once before.

Except there was a third option when I ordered, which was Free Shipping.

I did that, and their reply was that titles will be dispatched as they are released. \:D/

According to various member reports on Blu-ray.com, these are all of all of the Arrow discs that play in Region A (Panasonic and Pioneer, and potentially other) machines using the 'pop-up/top menu' button trick:

Big Trouble in Little China
Black Sabbath
Dressed to Kill
Hell Comes to Frogtown
Hellgate
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Lifeforce,
Runaway Train
Spider Baby
The Killers
The Long Goodbye
Zombie Flesh Eaters

Arrow Facebook wrote:**NEW TITLES NEARING OOP STATUS**
Attention film fans! 4 more of our titles have now been added to our critical list and are very close to selling out completely! The titles are as follows:

-Big Trouble in Little China SteelBook: http://bit.ly/1fFHYIM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
-Hell Comes to Frogtown: http://bit.ly/L64IJS" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
-Hellgate: http://bit.ly/1gBKpye" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
-Lifeforce SteelBook: http://bit.ly/1fFHUJ5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Once these are gone they won't be reprinted so if you are thinking about picking up one of these beauts up we would recommend getting your skates on!

Does anyone particularly recommend the two "Hell" films? DVD Beaver calls the first a lot of fun but the second terrible.

The first is indeed pretty fun and worth watching for some Piper action. Not great cinema per say, but worth watching.

Frogtown is pretty stupid but its worth a watch.
Hellgate however is a turd that should be avoided.

As far as I'm aware, it's a straightforward reissue of the disc and booklet in current Arrow packaging (i.e. no windowboxed slipcase). Presumably the original pressing has either sold out or come close.

The older release is dual format, and the new one only makes mention of blu.

Arrow will be announcing their summer slate on May 22nd.

I spot Roger Corman, David Cronenberg, Francesco Rosi, Seijun Suzuki and Burt Lancaster in that video.

I think now that I've been buying DVDs/Blus for a few years now, I feel like I have less to "catch up" on. But I feel like this year is giving us film lovers an absolute embarrassment of riches. Herzog Box, Boro Box, Killers, Sullivan's Travels, Persona, A Hard Day's Night, Caligari, Faust...there is just so much greatness happening it really is exciting. That is all. Can't wait to see what Arrow has next.

Apparently the last two posters there are for Remo Williams: the Adventure Begins (Guy Hamilton, 1985) and Alleycat Rock: Female Boss (Yasuharu Hasebe, 1970). I wonder if Burt Lancaster might stand for a Region B release of the Frankenheimer Train (an MGM title if I'm not mistaken)?
