Can't seem to capture the single image. Scroll down for 3rd image which seems conclusive in conjunction with the blood stain for the NY drawing to be just for Macbeth.
Or are we on the trail of doubly loaded clues again?

Well now that I see that, color me convinced again! It does appear the figure may indeed be one of the witches, and she is certainly trying to wipe out the damned spot. So it looks like we have retroactively guessed that Criterion is releasing Macbeth! \:D/

I could have sworn we settled on MacBeth being the clue a while ago?

The red spot was always MacBeth; the question is whether hair-girl is part of the MacBeth clue or a seperate clue.

I'd agree that looking for double clues in the newsletter drawings has never really panned out, but they do occur in the new years drawings- wasn't a character from a different movie wearing the Rosemary's Baby necklace a couple drawings ago? I've never seen MacBeth, so maybe other shots support the theory a bit more, but the woman in the posted Fangoria screenshoot just have disheveled hair, not the iconic Ringu over-the-face hair.

I'm certain that's not legit. I have every expectation it'll be announced, but this looks like one of the quick jobs they do for their Hulu/iTunes-exclusive titles (until they get someone to do real artwork).

You know we definitely have had that conversation with Criterion. They found a really good response to Devil’s Advocate and Cronos. It’s all in the hands of them being able to strike a deal with New Line and Warners for the film, but I would love nothing more than having that. That would complete the Spanish-language trilogy so far (laughs).”

Sounds like wishful thinking more than anything. I don't see them striking a deal with Warner Brothers for the title. Maybe a few years down the line physical media sales will have dropped low enough that something like this could be feasible. The reporter at collider didn't even get the name of Devil's Backbone right.

Spoiler Alert: Very trusted source says THE BROOD hits Criterion Blu-ray 10/21/14. Announcement to hit first week of August. 4K restoration.
Obviously, if true, it'll be announced on Tuesday, and not in August.
So they will continue with the "tradition" of announcing new titles from directors the same month another title from that director is released. (If that makes any sense?!)

We can expect Mulholland Drive to be announced in September, when Eraserhead is released, for a December release.

It was Maude from Harold and Maude, who was played by Ruth Gordon, also in Rosemary's Baby, so the actress tied them together.

Alright, October guesses for me:

Don't Look Now
The Vanishing redux/upgrade
Midnight Cowboy
Kwaidan redux/upgrade
Jigoku upgrade

Do you think that after last month's announcements, which were pretty dark (with Eraserhead, Macbeth, and The Innocents), that October will still be a horror-centric month? (Legitimately asking, not trying to be snarky.)

It may be worth a reminder for guessing the next round of announcements that Criterion has never scheduled a horror-centric group of titles for October. If there are even two, it's coincidental.

I'd say that changed last year. Surely The Uninvited, I Married a Witch and Eyes Without a Face all being released in October was not a coincidence.

We've already had reliable sources for The Innocents and The Brood coming this October.

Criterion has already announced The Innocents for September.

The sources mustn't be that reliable, because The Innocents is coming in September.

So, what was the final decision on the Merchant-Ivory films? Will we ever get any upgrade, or Criterion lost the rights for good? Thanks.

I wonder with at least 5 Capra's getting 4k resto and Sonys relationship with CC that maybe we will see more than one Capra film coming to the Collection. You Can't Take It With You would be a great choice along with It Happened One Night.

Would be great if His Girl Friday and Twentieth Century got a 4K resto as well. Criterion would be delighted at adding more Hawks into the collection.

I have a feeling Midnight Cowboy will be saved for November, but The Brood and The Vanishing are all but guaranteed.

I remember last October only getting four titles, though in other years the month has been quite significant. We'll all know soon enough...

I'd predict we'll get a few upgrades this time, since they announced only one each for August and September.

Somewhat random query, but has there ever been anything to suggest that Truffaut's Two English Girls will be getting a disc anytime soon? (It's up on Hulu.)

Well there is the fact that Artificial Eye is going to be releasing nearly every Truffaut title in HD over the next several months, maybe Criterion's been waiting for the same (hopefully) new HD masters.
