The booklet for Scanners is great too, with the back and front covers being the back and front views of the nervous system. And in case you were wondering Jennifer O'Neill and Patrick McGoohan both get similar portraits inside the booklet!

Beautiful packages but that Demy set is really big, way more so than I expected it to be

It's only four diamonds wide. That's not all that wide really.

All are superb, except The Big chill, which screams of "We only did this to get Tootsie"

Yeah, The Big Chill packaging gives off a pretty decent idea on the effort that went into the release as a whole, at least on Criterion's part. I haven't watched the Toronto Film Fest extra or Kasdan interview yet, but everything else is directly ported from the old Sony DVD. The audio/video presentation for the film is surprisingly good, though, but that's all because of Sony themselves. It feels like Criterion just slapped everything onto the disc and just put it out, which is a bit of a shame really.

Just because they weren't passionate doesn't mean they couldn't have found social commentators or critics who were. Really a disappointment from one of the few here willing to back the film

Just checked the first page of Lena Dunham's resume and she calls herself both of these things, among a few dozen more trades.domino harvey wrote:social commentators or critics

The Jacques Demy set looks fantastic. I hope it makes its way across the Atlantic without damage. Looks like one of those truly top tier arthouse sets that'll treasure along with Criterion's Berlin Alexanderplatz, MoC's Mabuse etc.

I need that cover as a poster for my house, which I have painted using almost the same colors.

There are 14 chairs = 6 features + 7 shorts + alternative cut of Jour de fête

The Tati cover is nice but it bothers me that the topmost chair looks like a wineglass!

You're forgetting the english version of Mon oncle that Janus was touring a couple years ago...Ashirg wrote:There are 14 chairs = 6 features + 7 shorts + alternative cut of Jour de fête

I resisted getting my hopes up for the Tati announcement, and here it is. Lovely cover, which I instantly recognized as the work of David Merveille. There is no one better on the planet that Criterion could have chosen better to do this artwork. I'm ready for summer to be over and October to be here now.

Ok, then 14th chair must be for something else...

Also there are 8 shorts if you count the unfinished Forza Bastia. Tati also had cameo appearances in a couple other minor features, but then again, I don't know just how complete this really intends to be. I think even the recent StudioCanal box missed a short.Ashirg wrote:Ok, then 14th chair must be for something else...
