I just hope they don't use the poster as the cover art. I'm unspeakably excited to see the film, but I hate that cheap-looking poster.

Can't remember if I posted this here at one point, but I actually met Linklater a little over a year ago at a screening of Before Midnight and asked him him there were any plans for a release of subUrbia. He acknowledged that Criterion wanted to release it at one point, but claimed that Warner Brothers had changed around their company policy and were pretty much just sitting on the film (as we all know, WB does not like to license out their films). He remained optimistic that the film would receive a release at one point, though it seemed like mostly wishful thinking on his part.

Dang, I thought they had gotten further than that. Even commissioning Marc English to design artwork for a release.

Did you happen to ask about Waking Life as well?

Hasn't this only happened with Blue is the Warmest Color so far?
Yes. Boyhood seems like something they would want to release as soon as possible, just like Blue is the Warmest Color, which had a fair amount of awards hype if I'm not wrong.

Unfortunately not. I actually only watched the film for the first time a month ago (though would certainly welcome it for a Criterion release!).

Off-topic, but I think it'd be cool if Criterion made an app.

Would anyone happen to have heard any rumblings of more Ken Loach films coming from Criterion?

No rumblings. They passed on The Angels' Share. They probably have access to Riff-Raff via their relationship with Film Four, if they want it.

And that's twice for me with the Twilight Time blind spot. I'll just shut up now. ](*,)

Is there any chance that Terrence Malick's last three films will ever come to the Collection? I know that his later career is not highly regarded by too many on the forum, but he is one of my top five favorite filmmakers and I love each of his films equally. I'd like to see them get a more thorough and loving treatment (especially The New World and To the Wonder, as the blu of Tree of Life is not bad at all). Perhaps the rumored long cut of The Tree of Life could be included.

Thank you. I'll have to check it out when Twilight Time releases them. Will the double feature be a limited release like most TT releases?

Yes, it is. It will be up for pre-order coming Wednesday, 4:00 pm (EST)
Special Features included are Isolated Music & Effects Tracks only, unfortunately no documentary or even subtitles!

I can't help but notice that The Brood has been taken down from their Hulu channel, though not from iTunes. Have they ever taken down, say, soon-to-be-released titles from Hulu before? How worried should I be 8-[

The Brood was only on iTunes, it was not on the Hulu channel.

I just saw that Hiroshima Mon Amour is going to be playing at the New York Film Festival in September. Does anyone know if it's a new transfer, and if so, does it suggest a new blu on the way?

The film was restored by the WCF but as far as we know, there are still rights issues to sort out.

Looks like Monte Hellman's Westerns box set will be announced next month for November release. Hellman noted it on his Facebook page, enthusiastically calling the cover art "Four words: UN BE LIEVE ABLE". Lots of great interviews included, and a video essay on Warren Oates.

I haven't even seen the films before and I'm getting psyched. He's describing it as a "box set", so I'm hoping maybe "Cockfighter" is included.

He has already confirmed that it is just the two films (The Shooting and Ride in the Whirlwind.)
