Is there any chance that WAC would be interested in upgrading any of their existing DVD titles? For instance, I would really love to see The Loved One and Brewster McCloud on Blu (though I doubt either of them are huge sellers, so I'm not optimistic).

I was really hoping Criterion would have picked up The Loved One in whatever deal they made with Warner. It's an MGM/United Artists title, so that would make it more likely I suppose. Perhaps Criterion could have done for it what it did for the far less funny IAMMMMW (ie. maybe recreate the roadshow version with all the unused footage/deleted scenes or incllude the 4 hour work print as a bonus). I'd love to see some of the outtakes that didn't make the theatrical release, particularly for those (ie. Ruth Gordon) who ended up entirely on the cutting room floor.

There is sort of a precedent set already with the original Get Carter, which was demoted to MOD status and then released on Blu-ray by WHV (rather than WAC). I for one would love to see Victor/Victoria get a Blu upgrade.

You could argue that's a precedent for avoiding upgrading WAC titles as WAC Blus. I imagine it'll happen sooner or later, but it almost seems like they're going out of their way to dodge it right now.

WAC 101 Question: these blu-rays (namely Out Of the Past) are on pressed disc? Which differs from the DVD-R DVDs?

Yes, they're pressed Blu-rays just like any other non-Archive Warners release, they're just distroed under the WA banner

Oh, I'd definitely prefer it came from Criterion, too! In fact, I've emailed several times suggesting just that. But I eventually regarded it as a lost cause because of Warner's refusal to work with other labels. If that's not necessarily the case, I will start up my crusade again!

Apparently, Raintree County will be released on blu-ray next year through the WBA.

The Great Race is the exact right type of title for WA - a catalog title that has its die hard fans that will most definitely purchase it, but not exactly a title of mainstream appeal.

The individuals of this message board won't line up to buy it necessarily, but it will definitely be a good seller for WA. Especially since the DVD is 12 years old now.

I think 500 is a minimum run, so about 2000 sold sounds about right

That is my lowball estimate, but for a Blu-ray catalog title that's been out for less than a month and only at some online retailers, yeah, I'd say so
