I stand corrected . Yeah, I'll log this under "uninformed wishful thinking" and call it case closed.

I'm hoping that "the window" just might indicate a RATCATCHER Blu-ray upgrade!

Because the Blu is OOP (except for a store exclusive steelbook).
And it's Kubrick. And it's Strangelove.
Am I missing something? How is this an argument for them not releasing it?

Because it's too big for someone else to let it go. I'm not sure how much that argument holds up anymore though.

That being said, atomic bombs tend to do a lot more than just leave confusing-looking holes in the ground.

The bomb was probably unarmed before it was dropped

Jokes apart, this should not happen. I am really getting tired of these Criterion releases of the decent BDs already available in the market. Also, I am extremely satisfied with the Sony digibook of the Dr. Strangelove. If someone don't like that release, for them there is a new BestBuy exclusive steelbook of the film just released couple of months ago.

But Sony's already let it go by letting it go (mostly) OOP (this is in response to Drucker not you, Swo). My post should in no way be construed as a validation of the Strangelove guess.

I was going to make a joke at some point last year that the whole Sony/North Korean thing was part of a ploy to celebrate the film's 50th anniversary.

Well if we're voting for our Kubrick pick, mine will be A Clockwork Orange, which Warner inexplicably re-released in a 2-disc anniversary book which included the exact same (older) transfer as in the original blu-ray instead of the new restoration which included additional footage (and better pq), or perhaps they're doing their own Kubrick box to make everyone happy.

Few things in life are certain, but Warners releasing yet another 'ultimate' Stanley Kubrick box set is up near the top of the list.

Could the soldiers refer to the Director's Cut of Revolution? The BFI did a very nice Region B disc of it.

This might be far-fetched, but I was thinking... Could the window frame be a reference to Interiors? The film begins and ends with characters looking through windows. Came to mind when I saw that Twilight Time said they didn't have the rights.

It would help explain the Woody Allen phantom page.

If true (and it sounds like a solid assumption), it'll be interesting to see if it gets supplements. We know how Allen feels about that stuff.

I've still been thinking about the broken bridge part of the drawing and I'm too lazy to go back and look through every response, but did anyone mention Monte Hellman's Road to Nowhere for that part of the clue?

The bridge is The Bridge, the rose is The Rose. Could the hole be another literal clue for Tsai Ming-liang's The Hole? The Fox Lorber edition has been OOP for awhile.

I remember this blurry New Years' list photo back in 2012 (or was it 2011?) and much speculation about if the note for The Bridge was for this film or for (bridge @) San Luis Rey, Toko-Ri or River Kwai. Glad we can scratch that off the list. Does anyone else remember what else was on that list that has not since been released?

First guess I've heard for this that hasn't sounded like a stretch.

Re: Gang with knives as "Silent Ozu: Three Crime Dramas"

I would happily go with this guess if there were only three figures rather than four in the drawing.
