OK, thanks. I've ordered from that page several times but I guess I've never noticed those things before.

Does anyone have an email address for Warner Archive customer support? I got a bad disk, and have sent several messages to their single "contact" web page (http://shop.warnerarchive.com/category/ ... tact+us.do" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) — but have yet to receive a response weeks later.

You got me curious too, I got a bad disc (big gouge/scratch on play side) for one of the pressed discs in Forbidden Hollywood v8 that I need to do something with.

Did you try [email protected] [you get that if you reply to the order thank you email] (or [email protected] [it's mentioned at the bottom of the same order thank you email])? (It's been quite a while since I've had to do this, how about [email protected], an oldie but goodie that worked a couple years ago...)

WAC's having their annual 5-for-$45 sale. All Blus included except the latest releases and The Hudsucker Proxy, which is apparently OOP. I can personally vouch for The Lusty Men still being pressed as of the beginning of December, and it's still listed on the "Replicated" page.

Someone at Blu-ray.com posted this:
[Their Blu-rays] are currently still pressed, but they will not always remain so. WA has stated that they will only offer their Blus as pressed for a limited time, after that they will be burned. No one has reported any burned ones yet, but they will supposedly come eventually. Burning a BD-25 has become much more affordable in the last year and it's likely they will use those instead of the more cost prohibitive BD-50's for future titles and re-releases, especially if you buy them somewhere other than from WB. I heard this directly from an executive at the WA.

We do not use BD-R, nor do we plan to use BD-R in the future. Regardless of who you buy Warner Archive Blu-rays from, you will receive a Blu-ray disc, not a BD-R ~ Warner Archive YouTube guy, 3 months ago.

I think the point of the YouTube video was to dispel the common misconception that they've been using BD-R all along, a myth perpetuated by the fact that most sites discussing WAC's BD line refer to them as MOD. What WB says publicly now and what an executive says privately aren't necessarily going to be the same thing. I didn't post that quote because I think they're immediately going to switch all future releases over to BD-R, but to mentally prepare people for the possibility that at some point in the future they may start using them after initial runs for BD titles sell out. That quote is a post on an internet forum and should be taken in that light. The poster is a regular who knows film, but he may also be overly cynical. Then again he may also be telling the truth.

Are the copies of Lusty Men that Amazon sells DVD-R? The page says they are, but I would have thought they got them direct from WB.

Placed my first WAC order with this sale. Would have ordered additional DVDs, but don't have sufficient data as to whether "Initial quantities of this release will be traditionally replicated (pressed) in anticipation of high consumer demand." in conjunction with "Made to Order" on the item listing means that there are still pressed discs available, or that they are now MOD. I'll soon find out.

Thank you kindly. It looks like the two DVDs I ordered are safe. Maybe I'll snag "Miracle of Morgan's Creek" the next sale. Or perhaps there will be a Criterion edition by then. ;^)

Could anyone tell me how long the 5 for $45 sale normally lasts? It doesn't really say anywhere on the site. Thanks in advance :)

Picked up Show Boat in the latest sale (still pressed in case anyone was wondering). Does anyone else's copy have a weird glitch at 1:04.51? Sound drops out and image freezes for a split second. It's likely my copy but wanted to check before trying to exchange.

I returned a copy of Showboat that had a glitch around that the hour mark, but what particular minute I don't recall. The disc dropped in audio and the image froze, though my copy wouldn't let me continue with the movie. My replacement disc worked without a hitch. Hope that helps.

Thanks Professor Wagstaff. Also picked up Born to be Bad this time around and just discovered that it freezes halfway through and won't continue . . . .

FYI: The Hudsucker Proxy had disappeared from their shop during the last Warner's sale, but has now returned to their BluRay listings.

I have a quick question - I just noticed that my Blu-Ray of Performance has tiny scuffs all over it. This is the first time I've ever bought a new, sealed Blu-Ray disc that wasn't pristine on the surface (the coating on these things are supposed to be really, really hard to mark up, much less scratch).

Anyone else have this experience with Warner Archive? Given the reported issues about this disc, I'm wondering if someone returned it (say, sticking it in an envelope without the case) and they just put back into circulation, so to speak.

The way their discs look often as not (burnt or pressed), wouldn't surprise me if their blu-rays are similarly abused. Early on I received a few that looked like they must have been repackaged they were so bad, fingerprints, covered with dust and/or scratched up, so I wouldn't put it past them to actually be doing that.

Now I always open them all up when I get them (though to my new regret, I've not opened up the blu-rays, from now on I'll have to do them as well). I have a handful of dvd-rs that I'll be sending back from the recent 5for45 sale, a couple/three of them were particularly scratched up this time, the others more grungy looking than usual. Usually the scratches and/or grunge have been negligible, so I haven't bothered (the ones I've played have played ok)... And previously I sent back a set of pressed discs, one disc in particular was in really rough shape, wasn't the first time I've done that either.

Haven't had this experience with a Warner Archive Blu-ray, but EVERY single disc in my Martin & Lewis Collections Vol. 1 and 2 (pressed) was covered in scratches, fingerprints, and marks that could not be wiped off. I've had this experience with DVDs from other companies too, so I think it probably has more to do with workers clumsily putting them in the cases rather than being returned products.

By the way, I have received Blu-rays before that were scratched. One of the Blu-ray discs in my Blade Runner set (coincidentally a Warner set, though ordered from Amazon) had several scratches on it, but it played fine.
