I was always more drawn to the commercials for girls stuff (and girls in general) growing up, as the commercials for boys were all about shit I could not care less about: fighting, monsters, weapons, battles, etc. Who wouldn't rather make some cupcakes or something? (Although this is one of the inescapably catchy jingles ever-- it still pops into my head on a too-regular basis)

Somewhere out in the world there's a cassette of eleven-year-old me imitating Bill Cosby for 45 minutes. Dom, I literally gave my little brother (me...8? brother...5?) a haircut after being inspired by Goo's dollar sign haircut given to the little brother. This also happened a day before my mom had scheduled my brother and I to go to JC Penny to get our picture taken. The pictures were rescheduled.

The haircut wasn't a dollar sign unfortunately, though. Just poorly cut hair.

This thread is making me realize I knew more about the show than I had remembered. Aside from "Don't hold your breatthh!" and the dollar sign haircut, Wikipedia tells me it was also the source of the odd inflection of the phrase "Hit me!, Hit me!", which even as a kid had me asking "who else would he be hitting?" Also, I honestly assumed that Cool Dr Money was a legitimate if forgotten rapper from back in the day, not a character from this show.

It only lasted 13 episodes? Wow, how memories distort things. It's one of the old Nick shows that sticks out the most in my mind, probably because I watched it nearly everyday.

They do make a good point about sitcoms centered around black characters. Networks in the past had a small but noticeable run of shows featuring primarily black actors but recently any representation on the small screen is non-existent.

Shout! has released the Complete Series of Hey Arnold as a Wal-Mart exclusive for a ridiculously low $29.93 MSRP. It's sold out online here, but apparently you can find it for $20 in stores (and it's going for 3-5 times that on eBay!)

On a side note, I once worked with a guy that was a on Double Dare as a kid. I forgot to ask him if he did a physical challenge but if I recall correctly nobody really passed those.
