Re: Arrow Films
Spirits of the Dead got the same treatment. I saw a picture of the package a while back, posted by Ryan from CriterionCast. So, that definitely exists in spite of the fact that no website shows it. He might be able to shed some light.

The copy of Spirits of the Dead that I bought during one of the sales on Amazon UK did have the booklet inside.chatterjees wrote:Spirits of the Dead got the same treatment. Re: Arrow Films
Thanks for the info. Just purchased my copy from the Arrow Store. Here's hoping it's the right version!RyanGallagher wrote:The copy of Spirits of the Dead that I bought during one of the sales on Amazon UK did have the booklet inside.chatterjees wrote:Spirits of the Dead got the same treatment. On another note (I tried to find it addressed in this forum but couldn't find anything), has there been any explanation as to why the Arrow Academy line isn't being continued in the US? Both Dr. Jekyll and Miss Osbourne and La Grande Bouffe are Academy titles in the UK, but their US counterparts have the regular Arrow Video banner.

Re: Arrow Films
I think it might simply be better to start somewhere with a unique simple identity rather than directly have 2 different entities and line ups.
In the UK, Arrow was already well known when they started Academy as a "spin off". It's not the case in the US (yet ?).

Re: Arrow Films
I jusr received my US edition of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Miss Osbourne. Is this the first case where they did not put a 2nd poster/picture as the reversible cover? Both the covers are same, only one with French wordings.

Re: Arrow Films
Marina Pierro was most insistent that both covers feature that still, which had originally been hand-picked by Borowczyk (and used as the basis of his French poster). But we'd already been thinking along similar lines, so it wasn't a big ask.

Re: Arrow Films
Thanks for the explanation. I do have one more question. So, Arrow doesn't put postcards in the US releases!I have 3 of them now, none came with one. My Monalisa/The Long Good Friday box also doesn't contain one. Are postcards going to follow the booklets?

Re: Arrow Films
It could be a case of very bad luck. I've received plenty of UK releases without postcards.chatterjees wrote:Thanks for the explanation. I do have one more question. Re: Arrow Films
Closely Observed Trains is one of my all time favorite films. Now what should I do? It is possible that a Criterion edition might be coming soon as there is an HD master available now.

Re: Arrow Films
It seems like Hard To Be A God is also an Academy title.

Re: Arrow Films
Sounds like an interesting line up. I'm in for three, possibly four of the titles.

Re: Arrow Films
Confirmed on Twitter that Closely Observed Trains and Hard To Be A God will be region-free; perhaps The Firemen's Ball will follow suit.

Re: Arrow Films
All three are region-free, and we'll make sure that no PAL or 1080i50 material sneaks onto any of the discs.

It's an Amaray version that also loses the comic book.

Re: Arrow Films
Their recent video deck blog posting indicates that they are currently working on an Argento and Fulci film for US/UK. It seems like it's been narrowed down to Argento's Opera and Fulci's The Psychic as the likely titles.

It was already suspected but it looks like Kinji Fukasaku's Battles Without Honor and Humanity will be coming from Arrow, which is fantastic news to say the least!

Re: Arrow Films
Really tempted by Hellraiser even though I hate those sequels. The inclusion of 3 is a nice surprise, though, especially since I don't think it has ever received a decent release on any format. I thought it would have only included the first 2.

Re: Arrow Films
Also great to see the release of Thieves' Highway. After announcing Brute Force, I asked them on Twitter if there would be any more Dassin releases, and they said no.
That means just Night and the City awaiting a blu-ray from the group Criterion have released.

Re: Arrow Films
They have the cast details of Thieves' Highway up for Hellraiser. I was like, "Wait, Richard Conte was in it?"
