Anyone else noticing the lighter, softer shrinkwrap on the newer titles? It's preventing pruned covers and doesn't get stuck to the case in strange ways like the older stuff.

I noticed the ones that pruned and glued to the case but now that you mention it, yes, they have changed for the better.

My Shoot the Piano Player cover was pruned. Luckily, I have a few spare double Amarays. Bloody annoying, though at this premium price.

Wind, I feel we have very little in common.

Seeing the collection of this year's releases on the Criterion newsletter still shows that Criterion designs some of the best DVD covers. Of the 54 shown, there's maybe 3 or 4 I don't care for.

Did you not see my post, a few up from yours?
Sorry, daniel, I hadn't looked closely enough and just assumed it was a smaller version of the other. Thanks!
No problem denti.

thought you all might want to see this.
Dear Steve,

ARKADIN will include a separate book (like MWFTE), but it will be packaged
with a 3 disc digipac (like Battle of Algiers) in a lovely slipcase.

Best,
JM

Good to know. Sounds cool. I like the Battle of Algiers and Ugetsu packaging.

Thanks for the cheers! I have added the Videodrome as requested. Nice work SncDthMnky, would love to add them if you did them in 1280 X 1024 and you are right, I use high resolution scans and that is why I wont be doing the much talked about Viridiana right away. Be sure it will be up as soon as I get my copy. I had a few minutes to kill and added a spoof section: http://www.criterion.frac.dk/spoof There are tons of spoofs out there so I will only add the ones that made me smile...

On that note, I'd like to volunteer that my Royal Tenenbaums sticker, pictured below, is pink and white instead of silver and black. In fact, I think the silver and black is actually the Rushmore sticker. That's the color of my Rushmore sticker, anyway.

Hmmm...not really sure what to make of this one yet, but I really had no idea what they were going to do with this cover. I think it'll be a grower.

yeah your right its a grower. i like it already. the white scratches are the bits you might have to get used to, because thats actually highly unusual and unique.

For some reason, it reminds me of the Ratcatcher cover.

I think the Ratcatcher image was shot with that tight crop, while the "Fists" image looks like it was cropped afterwards. A good way of making a rather ordinary image more interesting.

I like 'em both. The Malle cover resembles (intentionally, I presume) the design of 60s jazz LP covers, especially those on the Blue Note label.

And the Region 2 DVD release for Breathless, which did the same thing.

Couldn't have hoped for anything better for Gallows. Looks like a Blue Note cover.

why, oh why wouldn't gallows be 331, to be coupled with his boxset?

very odd to me.

PS. I just want to make sure you all know the gallows cover looks like a blue-note cover, since it seems to be the cool thing to do now. :P
