Night in the City looks like Owen Smith's work, like the Aimee Mann Forgotten Arm CD coverhttp://www.owensmithart.com/paintingthumbs.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mulvaney emailed me back saying Tess was reissued on December 30, 2014 and Two-Lane Blacktop and Vampyr were reissued on March 10, 2015.

That's really lovely, and you can understand why it took so long!

Truly a nightmare of a Cover Art thread bump day. Here I am contributing to it by pointing it out.

They should have just hired this guy (if still alive) and been done with the cover in 30 minutes:zedz wrote:That's really lovely, and you can understand why it took so long!
Beautiful cover. Wonder if they will keep the title treatment the same - as I didn't even notice it for awhile!

The cover is by Michael Gaskell who did the fantastic teaser poster for the movie too. Here's a huge version of that to see the detail. Check out some of his photo-realistic portraits. My only qualm about the new cover is that it sort of spoils the reveal at the end, but what kind of heathen hasn't seen Moonrise Kingdom at least half a dozen times?

I'm excited to see them do something a little different with an Anderson release. The Eric Anderson covers are great, but since Darjeeling they've felt a bit tired.

Nothing else to add, these are all stunning. Blind Chance in particular is one of my all-time favorites.

Figures, a (relatively) unimpressive month in terms of titles and features and they go all-out with the covers.

Anderson didn't do the covers for Bottle Rocket or Fantastic Mr. Fox either.Buttercream wrote:I'm excited to see them do something a little different with an Anderson release. The Eric Anderson covers are great, but since Darjeeling they've felt a bit tired.

When they get around to releasing The Grand Budapest Hotel, I can't imagine them not using the poster of the hotel.

Really? It seems like they would try something a little less obvious, especially considering that the mentioned image was used not only on the poster but also the existing Blu cover

Oops. You're right. Boy do I feel silly. I think I meant to say Eric Anderson-esq, which is how I would describe Bottle Rocket's cover. No excuse for my forgetting Fantastic Mr. Fox.Jeff wrote:Anderson didn't do the covers for Bottle Rocket or Fantastic Mr. Fox either.Buttercream wrote:I'm excited to see them do something a little different with an Anderson release. Here's a good question, is the Moonrise Kingdom the first time the title of the movie appears twice on the cover?

Also, does anyone know why Anderson's name isn't on the cover?

They should have put his name on the shore, instead of repeating the title...

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
Nope, the title appears twice on the Carnival of Souls cover as well. Frankly, I've never understood the need for the little banner at the top of that cover with Herk Harvey's name, the title, and that little cropped photo of Candace Hilligoss's face. It detracts from an otherwise great poster image to which they could have just added Harvey's name.flyonthewall2983 wrote:Here's a good question, is the Moonrise Kingdom the first time the title of the movie appears twice on the cover?
