Excellent month title-wise, cover-wise not so much. A Brighter Summer Day is the best of the batch for me

Lovely fold out for Riso amaro but they must have snoozed on doing any interior design.

Chris, I'm surprised not to see packaging photos of Inside Llewyn Davis less than a week from its release. Has anyone posted photos of this online yet to anyone's knowledge?

Haven't received it or Gilda yet. Also not aware of anyone receiving a finished copy yet.

Some reviewers received Gilda over the past few days.

Can't quite recall any Criterion spine differing in style/coloring so substantially from the cover quite like this. I admire it given that it does add variety to a shelf full of titles but it does seem to jar when seen off the shelf.

Snazz. Early contender for packaging of the year in my view.

What Criterion are lacking in terms of substantive booklets, they are (partially) making up for in mini-posters that I would consider framing. Lady Snowblood, Gilda, and Bitter Rice all have very nice posters.

Jesus, between Rita Hayworth and Oja Kodar, you have to wonder if Orson Welles' luck just concentrated itself in one very specific area of his life.

Great cover for Phoenix, everything else: nice try, but no

Nothing bad yet, but Phoenix is the only particularly good one.

In addition to Phoenix, I like Brief Encounter's cover. Sorely disappointed by Only Angels Have Wings. It's one of my favorite Grant films and wished it was better.

Anyone know who did the cover art, because it kind of looks like Francesco Francavilla's work.

Criterion's listing confirms that it is.

It would help if the cartoon drawing of Cary Grant looked like Cary Grant

He actually looks more like Robert Montgomery than the guy on the Ride the Pink Horse cover did!

I like the cover for Only Angels.... I was expecting a cover more like It Happened One Night. Glad they didn't go that route.

Indeed. I don't like it, but it could have been much, much worse

Indeed! but no matter the cover, I would`ve gotten it anyway. Love the Phoenix cover! And will get the Kennedy films.

Yeah, Only Angels could have been worse; it could have been the TCM cover. Maybe there's some studio mandated quota for blue and yellow?

I appreciate the attempt with the Barcelona cover but while Taylor Nichols looks okay, Chris Eigerman is just as off as Cary Grant. Maybe we'll get some City Lights-style tweaks.

Might be crazy, but that looks more like Richard Barthelmess than Cary Grant. Love the cover for Phoenix.
