It's not postal delivery. I don't think Amazon use Royal Mail much at all anymore. Everything comes via their own logistics arm or other couriers, even when importing from their European stores.

Amazon famously split with Royal Mail some time ago.

Surprisingly, I received my Deep Red copy on Friday while my Rivette set (both sent from Arrow's store, but the Rivette was dispatched 2 days before Deep Red) still hasn't arrived.

Same here, at least if the shipping date listed on Arrow's site is correct (I never received a shipping confirmation from them on the Rivette, but I assume the set is on it's way).

Similar experience: Deep Red shipped Mon 18 Jan, arrived Tue 19 Jan; Rivette shipped Fri 15 Jan, arrived Thu 21 Jan. Both delivered by Yodel.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this announcement split is to dilute the chronic facebook whining about Arrow's lack of horror titles these days ](*,) . Hope it works!

I hope the Monday announcement isn't just another Fassbinder title. Definitely getting that giallo box.

Maybe Bollywood now, Mother India for example? Or Russian classics, like (rights weren't available if I understand but if by some miracle...) the Elem Klimov/Larisa Shepitko set or Bondarchuk's *War and Peace?

*Now you probably say that "no no no ain't gonna happen" but I have a right to hope.

Blood Bath sounds absolutely fascinating! Has anyone ever seen it in any of its incarnations? I'd never head of it until this announcement.

It isn't. I don't think this one has been leaked yet - or at least I haven't seen anything.

I think Arrow's stuff is very affordable if you're a regular customer - so long as you can wait for the sale (and there's no reason not to, considering its not out until May and there'll probably be one in March or April) you'll spend $50/£33 and get back ~$10/£7 in points for a future purchase. Seems reasonable enough for two movies.

The Hill/Rothman version is on Youtube, or used to be. It's very obviously a patchwork made with different actors at different times on different continents. Qualitywise I'd put it somewhere between Bucket of Blood and Beach Girls and the Monster.

Weren't they supposed to announce the new title today? Or did I miss it?

It wasn't mentioned here but there's a thread for it - it's The Human Condition.

They also announced that Black Mama White Mama will be released in the UK (it was announced as a US-only release originally).

Fran Simeoni confirms on Twitter that some Sam Peckinpah title will be coming later this year.

Could it be a proper UK release of Straw Dogs on blu? Would be a good fit with Arrow.

One title that some have recommended with the utmost praise is German's My Friend Ivan Lapshin and I am interested of course. Any chance this coming out from you guys, or are the rights at someplace else perhaps?

re the Peckinpah title: hoping for Garcia as well. It's MGM, would be another Warren Oates title in their line-up and best of all, save us all having to import the TT. My dream release though would be Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid, with a full restoration for both cuts, whether Warner UK would let them have it, I doubt it.

Exactly the same with me - Pat Garrett would be the ideal Peckinpah title, but as it's with Warner it's a definitely no-go (until they change their outlook...they may have to one day).

So of the Peckinpah titles they could potentially release (i.e. they can actually acquire the rights to), and since it's apparently not going to be The Killer Elite, I think Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia is the most local of his films to release. I'll be picking that one up for sure!

We could get another one down the line - which would almost certainly only be The Killer Elite.

The reason I don't mention Straw Dogs above is because there are issues with the uncut version of the film, right? The BBFC have rejected it before, so it would have to be cut. Sure, Arrow might get it one day but it would probably have to be cut like the current version (not that I would personally have a problem with that).
