My favorite guilty pleasure. I know there is a remake in the works (as if it could ever live up to the original) and I am familiar with the trend of re-releasing films when the remake hits theatres and including a free movie ticket so. . . does that mean we can expect a super special edition of Logan's Run? Anybody else think this movie is awesome?!

Most likely, a 2 disc special edition, since this was one of the early DVD releases from both MGM and Warner and it has become somewhat of a pop culture / cult classic phenomenon. The current WB release can be found almost everywhere for $6.00 or less. Some people consider this an underated film, but I believe Logan's Run is a movie with a really cool and interesting premise that failed expectations. Still, I would like to revisit it soon , to see if I have changed my mind about the movie.does that mean we can expect a super special edition of Logan's Run?

I read awhile ago that there was a 2disc SE that was scheduled for release in Germany this summer. It sounded a little odd, but the other titles that were also mentioned were sure bets i.e. the Batman films, The Big Red One etc. I would imagine it will be postponed until the remake "barfing" is released in theaters.
Why oh why are they remaking this film?
P.S. anyone hear about the sequel to Tron?

My favourite part (other than the Agutter nudity) was when you could see the crew reflected off of the robot (forget his name even though he said it a million times) guarding the way out. This movie rules! I'd definitely buy a 2-disc set if one were released as long as the transfer was redone. The MGM disc was decent (and it has a decent commentary) but nothing to write home about.

Actually it was filmed in a convention center style, Apparel Mart, in Houston. The exteriors that are featured at the end of the film were filmed at the water fountain feature of a downtown highrise bank headquarters.lord_clyde wrote:The movie was obviously filmed in a mall, and the exterior shots are obviously a model

The Island was enough of a big budget theme-a-like to make me cringe at the idea of a new Logan's Run. Think I, Robot, A.I., or the updated Rollerball. I mean it's not as if a Logan's Run remake has any chance in hell of being remotely good.Gordon McMurphy wrote:As much as the glut of remakes by Hollywood bore me these days, I'd love to see a big-budget remake of Logan's Run with mind-blowing sets and CGI and for the script to be more serious, dark and in no way cheezy. I'm not sure who I would want to direct it, though.

I second Gordon's viewpoint, analoguezombie. Surely the original can be substantially improved upon.

Jesus Christ! How did I not know about this? There doesn't seem have been any talk about it. Weird. And five contributors to the story/screenplay? Another interesting credit is, "Scott Lukowski - model maker" which is always good to see in this digital age.
Oh, well, I got my wish!
If only that other one would come true...
