I have a technical question: many of the releases of late, especially the 30s-40s, B&W films, seem to be getting very strong transfers and positive reviews. However, their masters seem to be the same masters from DVD. Look at the caps for Dark Passaglye. Nearly identical to the DVD...

I guess my question is: why are these dated masters good, but so many others we see...bad?

Lots of fine-tooth comb type digital cleanup.

A couple of things actually : they might not be the same masters but new scans from the same sources. Also, some of these older DVDs dont seem especially bad.

How does WAC blu-ray output for this year compare to previous years? I assume they're releasing way more than before.

In 2013, WAC released 6 titles including 2 recent TV shows.
2014 : 19 titles including 8 TV shows.
2015 : 16 titles / 4 TV shows
2016 : as of the Blu-ray.com listings, 21 titles / 5 TV shows (which won't be the full year, more will come)

It's worth noting that there has been a delightful steady stream of classic catalogue titles that people have been waiting years for lately, though. It's bizarre that major films with Wayne and Bogart weren't already available.

Yeah, it seems the whole philosophy at WB has changed the last few years. Not sure for the reason, maybe a management change, but with "the steady stream of classic catalogue titles" and their willingness to license to Criterion has been an absolute win for all.

So their first semester output already surpasses the whole previous year! That's nice.

Quick question: this has probably been explained before, but if the BDs are pressed, why are they released through WAC and not WHV? Is online-exclusive availability the only difference?

Deadly Trackers coming in July (whatever happened to the flip side title to this that was supposed to come out on Blu last month, Man of the Wilderness?)

You think they would capitalize on Man of the Wilderness from The Reverent release.

Geez, finally! Guess that crushes the popular board theory about it being one of the WB films Criterion picked up

Most people seem to be completely unaware that Warner have been porting many of their Warner Archive titles to Spain. I believe the discs are exactly the same. All of the Hitchcocks are out and most of the Bogarts. Much better deal for Europeans and maybe even Americans too.

Criterion was probably too busy creating extras for Cat People.

I wish I knew this a few weeks ago, I would have saved some money on Suspicion and Key Largo.

These are very hilarious. How do you produce them? It is like looking at a picture, except the picture moves!

Ordering 4 titles activates the discount--you can add any number of additional eligible titles to your cart and they will all be for the same deal. And navigating to WBShop through TopCashback will get you another 7% off. I knew there was a reason I kept putting off buying from this line...

I just happily discovered that, too! I accidentally ordered five titles but was pleasantly surprised they all had the discount. Nice! :D
