Yes, the thing about Nikkatsu Diamond Guys is that these films are seriously obscure - so nobody believed that these releases would sell out as quickly as known quantities like Deep Red or Fassbinder. They're massively reliant on reviews and word of mouth recommendation, which take time to percolate.

I noticed that titles announced to be released in US and UK in August are listed as Region B for UK releases and Region A for US releases. Does it mean they are no longer going to be dual-regioned?

Highly unlikely. It'd cost the replicator (and in turn, Arrow) more money to prepare two different glass masters and put them through the AACS process separately.

Is there any chance of seeing an Arrow release The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh and The Case of the Scorpion Tail since they were part of the NoShame catalogue and are now OOP? Hopefully we get more gialli with the friday announcements.

SPOILERS - Arrow Video announcements for September:
Spoiler
BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (Russ Meyer, 1970) [Blu-ray] - September 5th
THE SEVEN MINUTES (Russ Meyer, 1971) [DVD] - September 5th
MATINEE (Joe Dante, 1993) [Blu-ray + DVD] - September 12th
RAISING CAIN (Brian De Palma, 1992) [Blu-ray + DVD] - September 12th
DEAD END DRIVE-IN (Brian Trenchard-Smith, 1986) [Blu-ray] - September 19th
THE HILLS HAVE EYES (Wes Craven, 1977) [Blu-ray] - September 26th
SLUGS (Juan Piquer Simón, 1988) [Blu-ray] - September 26th
A pretty solid lineup for that month, I reckon. Three of those are pretty huge titles, and another of them hopefully means we'll get further sub-genre affair in future. I'm even happy about the reissues, since I didn't manage to get the initial release of those particular films. Great stuff, and looking forward to seeing the artwork for these!

I see on Twitter a tweet from the 19th that apparently it was announced at a Cannes screening that Arrow (Academy, presumably?) will release To Live and Die in L.A..

Yeah someone pointed this out over at Blu-ray.com recently...very exciting stuff! I'd imagine it'll actually be Arrow Video, much like Michael Mann's Thief.

Fran Simeoni also confirmed to me that they have a Peckinpah title planned for later this year, which is almost certainly going to be Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia.

So with Dante, De Palma, Craven, Friedkin and Peckinpah, Arrow are definitely bringing out the big guns over the last few months of the year!

Are these the UK only titles?

Cain, Matinee and the Meyers are UK only. The other three are US/UK but Blu-ray only in the US.

Arrow confirm that more Altman is on the way. If I was a betting man, I'd say A Wedding given the recent 4K resto. But fingers crossed that they'll manage to wrangle HealtH from Fox as well.

Earlier posts on the Facebook page indicate that The Glass Key and The Blue Dahlia will be released on September 19. I didn't see this make the blu-ray.com news section.

There's already a dedicated thread.

Eric Red wrote today on Twitter that Arrow will be releasing "a new fully loaded COHEN AND TATE Blu Ray in the UK!"

Wonder how many more sets Academy might release by the end of the year? I'm assuming they have at least one super-exciting never-before-released set up their sleeve considering how they delivered last year.

The fact of the Allen set's weird announcement just a week after the September announcements does suggest they were rushed into adding it to the schedule as early as possible, so maybe they're trying to better space it out with more of what's to come?

Strong rumours of a Phantasm set coming soon (probably October). I hope they can do a Jodorowsky set one day - it was Fran Simeoni's 'dream' Arrow Video release if I remember correctly.

I know that part of the IMDb post that sparked this rumor is definitely not true.

Which part? The Arrow Video part, or had someone just fabricated the whole thing? Either way, I hope they get at least the first film for the UK.

Namely the festival trajectory; horror magazine Rue Morgue has tipped the restoration of Phantasm for Fantasia in Montréal in July, which would preclude TIFF.

Arrow says on FB they're still awaiting some info on their US/UK releases and those announcements will probably be made sometime next week. They say it is their "biggest ever releases."

W/r/t the most recent set of announcements, it seems, except for booklets, none of these are limited editions. Is that the case everyone else is seeing?

Outside of the Rivette, hasn't that been true of most/all of Arrow's recent limited editions?

No, everything up to the Allen set at least has the words "Limited Edition" somewhere in the listing. I expect they are just waiting to gauge sales for the Allen set as they probably will be printing the same size run for each set before committing to a specific number just yet. I dunno about Dekalog, though.

Fassbinder, Taviani, Yoshida, Allen are all limited edition sets. And in general, the trend seems to be towards more, not less limited edition, so just wanted to double check!
