I mean it's apt, the psychosexual birth imagery is certainly prominent in the movie

My Ted Hughes radar is off, I didn't even see the (now obvious) symbolism there. I'll never go far in the world of the liberal arts now!

It makes me feel good it wasn’t just me who saw a resemblance to an anatomical part. :) Love the illustration, definitely sets the mood! The type though needs more work.

The type is right in line with CRONOS and THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE, though.

I quite like the cover myself. It's right in line with the film and everything. I eagerly await the full announcement.

Symbolism is clear to me: glowing red room --> psychedelic darkroom --> clue for Midnight Cowboy. Criterion is putting more obvious clues into the newsletters and building the deeper ones into the cover art.

Criterion designs for Dr Strangelove

Worth reading just for their realization that they screwed up on the first plane and that the thought of Strangelove-branded prophylactics occurred to them.

It might sound stupid and unrelated here, but does anybody know whether Shogun Assassin (1980) will be part of this box? Thanks.

AnimEigo's Shogun Assassin release seems to be OOP, so maybe.

The pic Criterion tweeted for the BN sale shows the New World in a regular case?

Odd, unless there's an alternate that uses the previous dual-format 3-disc cases. But even if they did the the booklet wouldn't fit.

Admittedly I was a little underwhelmed by it as well.

I should note it's a very sturdy digi, not flimsy like some of the dual-format ones were.

Did BN fake it for promotional purposes?

Edit: I'm also chuckling at the copy of The Graduate obscured by the plant in the top-left corner of the image.

That seems more likely. Maybe they weren't finished when the pic was taken?

Let`s hope that`s the case and that we`ll receive the digipack. Put in order it yesterday, either way
