I think it's the red background that I dont like in the LWC cover. It just overloads the overall cover.

I think it's both that and the fact that the bodies and the wave blend together too much. I prefer the coloring in the other two drafts that Pope posted.

Punch-Drunk Love artwork is by Dustin Stanton who did posters for all the latest Paul Thomas Anderson films.

I mean, it's a bit boring I guess, but surely the poster is at least recognizable? He even themes his website around a rather abstract Punch Drunk Love theme I don't really care for but at least would have been something mildly interesting.

Isn't that the whole point, for them to blend? The bodies become a "sea of people". But I also would've preferred some of that other wonderful stuff.

Guess they didn't expect anybody to pay attention (I sure didn't!) I checked the DVD for fun and it also looks the same as far as I can see.

Also, probably no need to point out, but the Blu-ray comes with an insert instead of a booklet, which the DVD had. Forgot to mention previously that Woman in the Dunes does come with a booklet on the other hand.

Criterion probably assumed (quite correctly, apparently) that few in their American audience would notice or care. European borders are not a top educational priority in our schools.

The Cat People insert looks terrific, almost as good as the one for La Chienne.

Not so hot on Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls, though, just because I've seen too many new "pop art" covers this week.

The colored chrysanthemum (which still doesn't look any different /updated on Criterion.com) really helps to make the cover look better. I suppose they took this forum's Triffid joke to heart and gave it a pop of color. Or is it some sort of color changing effect? Cat People + Beyond the Valley of the Dolls look fantastic.

Has anyone yet framed any of the "leaflets" that get a complaint every few weeks? Some of the leaflet poster designs they've come up with are better than most of the posters they sell in their store.

It's also likely a carry-over with how the DVD box-set was packaged.
