Sloper presents: a Bergman vote
Many thanks to Sloper for curating this vote: five Ingmar Bergman films from the collection. Quite an assembly of masterpieces. Hope you guys know better than I do what you want to vote for.

Re: Sloper presents: a Bergman vote
I'm quite torn myself! For me it's between Persona and Cries and Whispers; I think the former is Bergman's best film, but the latter may give us more to talk about.

Re: Suggestions and General Discussion
If anyone wants to curate a vote, just PM me a sentence saying what you want to do and why and we'll definitely do it.
If there's a whole bunch at once, I'll use your tiny proposal to figure out the order.

Boycotting because no Winter Light. (I don't participate anyway and never actually vote. Don't @ me.)

Re: Sloper presents: a Bergman vote
So how exactly do you register your vote? I'm game for any of the candidates. I'm sure many forum members can cite a particular film that was the portal to their involvement with film and for me it was Wild Strawberries - June 1960, to be exact. So I'll cast my ballot for Smultronstallet.

Re: Sloper presents: a Bergman vote
You click in one of the voting buttons to the left of the film title and then "submit vote." If you're not seeing these options, it's possible that it's because you're too new of a member.

I voted for this in your honor (and because it's the best of the five choices)isakorg2 wrote:So how exactly do you register your vote? I'm game for any of the candidates. If you're viewing it from Tapatalk, you won't be able to cast a vote. You have to be on the forum proper--in which case, it's as swo17 said.isakorg2 wrote:So how exactly do you register your vote? Re: Sloper presents: a Bergman vote
My God, tell me it ain't so, Joe. Has voter suppression migrated from the Republican Party to the Forum? For various reasons - new hard drives, my lousy memory - I've had something like three passwords on the Forum (DavidSpector, Isakborg, and the current one, which dates, I think, from May ). But for at least six years I've been a devoted reader and sometime participant in the Forum. Yes, I realize why the system doesn't recognize this. Anyway - thanks, Domino, for casting a Wild Strawberries vote for me.

You have five posts now, can you still not see the voting bubbles?

Swo17,
I tend to be asleep here in New Jersey at your Utah posting time of 12:15 AM. But I'm happy to report that first thing this morning, yes, I now have voting bubbles and, ala Manny Balestrero, my identity has been reinstated. Thanks to y'all, and for the work you do on Criterionforum in general. If you're serious about film, there's no other posting location on the web that compares.

Wild Strawberries -- also MY first Bergman -- seen in 1968 or so... and still my favorite.

Re: The Film Club Presents: Happy Halloween!
Thought I would take this opportunity to mention that Häxan was broadcast in true HD on TCM last week (perhaps it's been streaming that way on Hulu?) - while there was still some instability and scratches, etc., the image often looked excellent.
