Nine months later, my overall vibe from the film is dominated by how insulting and disrespectful a work the film is. Blanks inability to set his ego aside and continually making the picture about his aesthetic peculiarities is really unfortunate and also really revealing, it makes me appreciate much more how the maestro feels about how he seems somewhat disrespected and very misrepresented by blank as well. Or consider Alice waters, americas greatest chef, represented by blank as a garlic kook/cook. It is interesting that his methods of misrepresentation don't really reveal themselves fully to viewers without the blatant example of this film.
It also makes me appreciate how essential gosling as editor was to his future success, because as his own editor he seems to be his own worst enemy.
