Damn, that's a shame. I always really liked him, a classic example of a C-string "that guy" who was generally the best part of whatever bad project he was appearing in

Don't forget his role in RoboCop, as one of the title character's creators! He's also in another Criterion released film - Steven Soderbergh's Traffic, as the guy under witness protection that Catherine Zeta-Jones is trying to have assassinated to prevent him testifying against her husband.

He turns up in a couple of amusing horror films in the late 80s/early 90s. As a victim in the incredibly silly 'British nanny feeds children in her care to demonically possessed trees' film The Guardian by William Friedkin (aka the film that makes the later Hand That Rocks The Cradle seem down to earth!). And he's also in Deepstar Six, the other underwater alien film that was competing against Leviathan to cross James Cameron's Aliens with The Abyss.

But I'd probably put a word in for The Harvest, which is an interesting part-erotic crime thriller, part-organ harvesting urban legend piece, and one of Miguel Ferrer's only lead roles.

He was also good in an episode of ER playing a dying man, opposite his cousin.

If you're going by IMDb, I don't think it's accurate. I don't think anybody besides a few people involved with the production really knows who is in what episode(s) yet, especially since Lynch supposedly shot it as one 18-hour long film and then chose how to break it apart into episodes later. Since all shooting was complete prior to his passing, it's entirely possible he will appear throughout the series.

I always liked that one of his earliest appearances was as the helm officer on the sabotaged Excelsior in Star Trek III (captained by Doogie Howser's dad!), and he made an impression in my childhood memory as the villain in Blank Check.

You're right, I've been burned by erroneous IMDb listings before, so I should know better. Ferrer was featured prominently in the recent behind-the-scenes trailer where various cast members discussed working on the series and for Lynch.

Yes. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who remembers that.

He was also in the cast of John Sayles' short lived NBC show Shannon's Deal, along with Jamey Sheridan, Elizabeth Pena and Richard Edson.

Excellent show, so obscure that the Trio channel didn't even include episodes in their the Brilliant But Cancelled series. Wynton Marsalis composed the soundtrack.

He was also a session musician in the 70's. He told a story on The Projection Booth podcast's episode on RoboCop about playing on Keith Moon's solo album which was a huge flop, and later seeing him at a party and introducing himself as such. Moon's response was not so warm to say the least.
