Can't say I appreciate their taste in what constitutes a great foreign film. Some good choices, but some pretty awful ones. (Not too foreign, something Hollywood would make.)

Gibson was chewing on his earlier like someone who is badly wrestling with quitting smoking. Not sure if he is, but it looked very familiar.

It's a gag from his show that could have easily gone terribly, but Kimmel pulled it together. I reckon Aniston's getting her sunglasses back tho.

Rogen's an odd choice, but praise be for these sorta-lengthy hat tips to classic films.

I'm not gonna lie, when I saw the movie and again now with that clip of the flamethrower in Hacksaw Ridge, I thought of Rushmore.

Kimmel is mostly fine but one too many eye-rolls at technical categories, little seen films, etc that feel like punching down.

I'm guessing that much of the praise for Hacksaw Ridge in technical categories is keeping in mind its minuscule budget (for a period war film of its scale). The producers deserve the most recognition for managing that, but it's really amazing how expensive it felt and looked and sounded, considering.

From Patton Oswalt's Twitter - Would not have predicted Walmart doing a "Five Obstructions" experiment but here we are. #Oscars

This has gotta be on track to be the longest Oscars in a while, right? There's still like half the awards left

Aside from the tour bus bit, it's felt pretty economical, too

Forget what I said, the banter leading up to technical awards highlights felt needlessly lengthy/schticky

They still have to sing the two La La Land songs. As much as I like the opening they could save a lot of time cutting out/down the Best Song performances.

I hate, hate, hate Mean Tweets, for the same reason that I would oppose giving interviews to the idiots that run on the field at sporting events. Any more of a spotlight on Twitter assholes is too much spotlight.

ha! I'm with you, totally don't understand why one would spend 3+ hours of their time watching a program they detest.

Legend is really making me appreciate how the film version of this song wasn't awful.

It's like Wagner - you sit through hours of tedium so you can experience those precious few sublime moments.
