I like to imagine that if Derek Jarman was still around he'd have made full use of this period of 'Tilda Swinton unrecognisable under make up' parts for his own projects! But this seems another allusion to Hockney, especially after Guadagnino and Swinton's previous film was titled A Bigger Splash.

This has made me curious about what Swinton's role in this will be, unless the story has been changed radically. Maybe the piano player? Or the creepy butler figure?

She can do anything and I might like it; heck she should sign up for Bad Grandma right now...

Though I will admit I'm still skeptical about the remake of this particular film.

In contrast, I'm quite happy the more I hear about this film the more I'm interested in it. I'd take Thom Yorke drowning vocals over the proggy jamming of Goblin any day of the week.

At this point it sounds like someone trying to do their own thing rather than attempt to duplicate Suspiria. It'll probably as close to Suspiria as A Bigger Splash was to La Piscine.

To my knowledge, this is the first time Luca Guadagnino has opted to have an original score for one of his features (I Am Love had various pieces by John Adams tracked into it, A Bigger Splash had a needle drop soundtrack). Thom Yorke is certainly an interesting choice and I hope he does a good job.

Dakota Johnson stated she had to go to therapy to deal with being in the film so I'll let you each interpret that as you will. The posts I saw on Twitter stated that several of audience members looked away in disgust and at least one walked out.

Promoting a sequence that causes that level of disgust in an audience (Especially where food was just served) at an event like this strikes me as a bit of a gamble. It certainly got the word out though!

Armie Hammer saw the whole thing and called it "full-on evil" (as praise). I'm in love with Guadagnino following his most pleasant, (relatively) mainstream movie with something as grotesque as this appears to be, like Only God Forgives after Drive but with an even greater disparity between the two.

I liked the sound of David Gordon Green directing Isabelle Huppert as Madame Blanc. Unfortunately that fell through but I'd pay to see that.

I can't complain that we are getting David Gordon Green directing Jamie Lee Curtis in a sequel to the original Halloween and Guadagnino directing Tilda Swinton in this.

Should go without saying that this isn’t going to be for everyone (certainly not most cinemacon attendees) and I’ll add that it was shown at the tail end of Amazon’s presentation after (nearly) everyone had finished eating. I thoroughly trust Luca’s affinity for the original being channeled into his own unique version and am eager to see It in full ASAP.

Swinton in extreme old-age makeup (something seemingly absent from the CinemaCon clip), I wonder if they're going for some kind of reincarnation / rejuvenation angle with the witchcraft.
