The sale looks pretty good. Anyone have any idea how long it lasts?

Thanks for the advice Dom & beamish.

I went ahead and ordered Pelham, Salaam, Pauline, Ox-Bow, & Zorro!

I'll definitely check out Wanderers and Luna at some point soon. Critical reviews seemed too mixed for me to consider blind-buying at this point...

Find Tanner, El Segundo and the 16 others, and tell them Valdez is Coming to Blu-ray; it was just announced on their FB page.

Good lord, what happened here? If one can overlook the dull color palette (a crime considering the blown-out stylistics), how 'bout that grain-free image that looks blurry thanks to scrubbing-- it seems quite apparent that this has undergone DNR, regardless of what the DVDBeaver review claims

Try this link
(not sure if I've ever seen a Trademark in a URL before) + Mfunk will feel justified with this link posting situation (if GetHarryPalmer followed the guidelines, this wouldn't have happened!).

BTW, GetHarryPalmer = Mr Lime?

Why is Kino Lorber desaturating these transfers?

All of their posts are in this thread, and they posted the above positive link only after we highlighted a negative review. I don't care if it's Mister Lime, he's welcome to post here, but he should be aware that we are not a forum of sycophants and he has no special treatment here. I have praised KL in this very thread not days earlier, there's no agenda at play, but these recent high profile releases for KL are starting to look like the label's not ready for prime time

The thing about Mr Lime is you can tell him how wonderful he is 100 times, but if 101 is critical he'll get all defensive and pissy.

Is there some indication that the Kino is desaturated -- as opposed to the Universal supersaturated? The Beaver comparison suggests, to me at least, the latter.

The Kino is relatively low contrast (which I prefer here) and slightly pushed up the gray scale (which I don't) compared to the Universal. I like the 1.66:1, but have no idea which AR, if either, is original.

As far as A Duel in the Sun goes I've seen this a bunch of times, and a couple screened from film and the colors are always more vibrant then what Beaver's Kino caps suggest.

Even if Barton Fink's colors are right, still looks to me like there is very little grain and a pretty soft image.

I don't think they were ready for the fans' reaction to their TGTBATU Blu-ray. When you release such a classic you better do it justice or else the fanbase will meet you with fire and fury like the world has never seen.

Another note about Barton Fink: Criterion were likely sitting on it waiting for a better source to come around, and that doesn't appear to have materialized.

The edge enhancement on Universal's disc of Barton Fink is disappointing but I still prefer it to Kino's. My copy of Duel in the Sun has already shipped from wowHD but if a UK label does Duel better in the future, I'll buy it for a third time. I'm hoping Kino's disc of Son of Paleface turns out well..

I believe this is the third Region A release of this film, and each one is still botched in some way. I have the 2009 release, but none of them are definitive, correct?

The first MGM isn't botched, just a dated master I think. With that said, I picked up The Graduate blu-ray from Studio Canal in a mistaken assumption that MGM's color was wrong because it was an older release. Now if you look at the Criterion, it's clear that the MGM wasn't actually tha!t bad, just weak on detail and grain, but the color was pretty spot on. I'm no expert, but I wonder if that's the case here as well.
