Actually just recently rewatched his episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent wherein, in the most perfect casting imaginable, he played a professor clearly modeled on Cornel West

One of the great joys of my life was watching actors like him in all my favorites from Homicide: Life on the Streets, The Corner, Oz and The Wire.

BastardKeith on Twitter just reminded me he was on Square One too. Haven't seen that since grade school but I vaguely remember him on the show.

Tommy Carcetti's hilariously acerbic and irreverent campaign manager Norman Wilson is his top line for me but he was always, always a pleasure to watch.

Don't remember much of the show other than that I sat through it for MathNet at the end of every ep, but here's Cathey sporting an interesting "Kennedy" accent on the program!

That was actually always my main point of reference for him, making his later portrayal of shadier characters especially fun.
