L.A. wrote:The back cover for the Blu-ray of The White Reindeer (1952) lists English and Swedish subtitles. Release date October 28th.

There are extras as well: footage of the Jussi Awards ceremony from Finlandia Survey No 191, test shoots (in color) and Erik Blomberg's short film With the Reindeer (1947).
Finally out and English and Swedish subs for the film.

Does anyone have suggestions for purchasing the White Reindeer Blu-Ray for those who find navigating a website in Finnish a little too puzzling?

Watched the Finnish Un Certain Regard winner "The Happiest Day in The Life of Olli Mäki". A biopic of a boxer preparing for his big match but getting sidetracked by a love affair. It has certain charm, but felt a bit thin. A 60s movie pastiche in the vein of Karel Reisz, Lindsay Anderson or Milos Forman. Very nice 16 mm reversal stock monochromatic cinematography, but main character is a bore, could have been more interesting with his conflicted, desperate manager as the main character. Cute film tonally, but the lack of substance in the script department empties the film in a single viewing.

Another major restoration work done by the National Audiovisual Institute; The Unknown Soldier (Edvin Laine, 1955) coming to Blu-ray on November 10th. English and Swedish subs most likely.

There’s a five movie boxset with English subtitles featuring Blue Week, August, Red Line, Inspector Palmu’s Error and The Glory and Misery of Human Life. It’s released by Illume LTD. I don’t think it’s a commerical release.
