Save for the computer grid effect on the black part of the cover, I don't see what's so awful about it. I guess though it'd be better without the HDR and marketing blurb stickers.

There are just so many terrific images from that film, and in context this one is obviously very effective - but why choose it for a Blu-ray cover when you can use, say, the original placeholder cover for this release:

I've seen some UHDs with the HDR "sticker" printed as part of the cover, and we don't know yet (though it probably will be) if the "50 years ago" blurb is a sticker or not.

I understand there might be some better images to choose from, but does that make that a bad cover in itself ? I would probably prefer the original placeholder myself, but I like the new one too.

I mean, yes, you're right to a certain extent, though I think a red and black cover that doesn't immediately evoke the film to an average person in a retail store might not be the greatest approach. However: Won't be the first time I've quoted our great former mod Matt from the North by Northwest thread on this topic, won't be the last:

Looks like the original 2001 cover I posted was lent out to the new standard Blu-ray release that will coincide with the UHD. Sad!

Lionsgate has a tendency to mess with A24's great posters. I can only think of a few examples where the Blu-ray covers are better than/on par with the theatrical posters...

The worst part is, that's a perfectly nice painting being ruined. It might be forgivable had they even bothered to light the poster correctly. Genuinely head-scratching.

If this is the Best of 3D, then I'm sure it must include the paddle-ball scene from House of Wax (1953). Spoiler warning, it looks like the ball is bouncing right at your face! It's undoubtedly the most impressive 3D footage ever shot.
