I wonder if they will include now the Before Watchmen mini-series to make this longer than it's supposed to be. Some of the series were okay, but it has diluted the purpose of the original maxi-series.

Can't be any worse than Snyder's film -- Matthew Goode as Ozymandias is not to be forgiven or forgotten.

I don't recognize a single one of those scenes from the comic. Is this a free adaptation, are they including material from the prequel comics, or what?

This takes place after the events of the main graphic novel. Word has been pretty mum past that. Ozymandias is there, played by Jeremy Irons and well, that militant group seems to be idolizing Rorschach. This is a post Dr. Manhattan world so I'm guessing it'll be exploring the reality of what happened at the end of the graphic novel. I suppose however:
Spoiler
It matters if this series uses the original graphic novels ending involving the fraudulent alien monsters created by Ozymandias or the reworked fake out in Snyder's film which fakes an explosion caused by Manhattan. We shall see!

Ah, ok. Do you know if this is this new material, or adapting something?

I think Lindelof used what FX did with Fargo as an example of what he's attempting to do here.

It's new material. But as I said above things have been pretty quiet on plot revelations.

This is a pretty good comparison.

It's new material but since characters from Doomsday Clock, which introduces Watchmen to the DC universe, are announced, I'm quite curious as to exactly how new it will be.
In any case, I hope it looks better than what we're shown here, because this looks like it's already 20 years old.

I just watched this trailer and did HBO really just hang an entire franchise on the star power of... Don Johnson? In 2019?

I didn't get the impression that his character was going to be the lead as I think it's going to be much more of an ensemble, so maybe the next thing we see will feature Jeremy Irons more.

And it's not like Johnson hasn't been in anything high-profile for awhile, as it seems to me he's been doing more noticeable work in the last several years.

Regina King and goodwill from The Leftovers are the reasons to watch. They should frame it that way.

HBO had a "coming soon" spot for new programming last night and it featured her more, if not equally to Johnson and Irons' character.

When? The one that aired before GOT was the same Don Johnson spot for me

Pretty solid jump off tonight with a major surprise at the end. If this turns out to be nothing more than the Regina King kick ass hour, I'll be all over it. I'm still a little in the dark as to the wheres and whens here as i'm familiar only with Snyder's feature but this has the potential to be special.

The 2nd episode is good enough. Nice to see Jeremy Irons play a truly evil man.

I agree although I'm not certain who his character is. I'm assuming he's Adrian Veidt aka Ozymandias aka the world's smartest man but that hasn't been made clear. A lot hasn't been made clear at the point and I'm even more in the dark after last week's episode than I was after week one.

Yes it's Ozymandias, AKA Adrian Veidt.
