It looks like, so far, Arrow and Eureka are divying up new Sony noir catalog.

Adrian Martin asked me why wasn't he called in for an extra for this edition as he would have liked to contribute in some manner.

It's not like it's overflowing with bonus material as is, either!

This and The Four Sisters are indeed very very light on extras.

It's just him reading from a long list of humans and saying whether he finds them desirable or not

La bete humaine is my favourite Renoir and one of my favourite all-timers but I enjoyed this remake more than I was expecting, mainly because of Gloria Grahame who, between this and The Big Heat (let alone, Ray's In A Lonely Place), is getting manhandled a lot, and whose final revelation to Ford is heartbreaking. Crawford is also very good. I think Ford is miscast here, and a repairing of Grahame with Bogart might have worked to the film's benefit. I don't know if the ending as is was imposed by the Hays Code but in my opinion it would have strengthened the film had Ford

decided to stay with her and it had been a three-way confrontation or at least the men had faced each other after Crawford strangled Grahame
