I find some of the faces on I Wanna Hold Your Hand terrifying to look at; Detour is way too bright for my tastes. The others look good, though.

I think the artist was going for a Mad Magazine thing for I Wanna Hold Your Hand-- it's very Mort Drucker, and I think it's a good fit for the material

The typeface for Wanda doesn’t fit the image. Very clean and modern but also not aesthetically pleasing on its own. Just use Helvetica if you are making this type of cover/poster.

The "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" cover looks horrible. I have never seen the movie... and that cover makes me want to steer clear.
And... why is Harold Lloyd grabbing his crotch?!? Is this an early hip/hop video... or does he have to relieve himself?!?

When I first saw the cover for Japon, the thought that went through my mind was that if Criterion ever gets to release Imamura's Ballad of Narayama they should tell Sam Smith to recycle his Japon cover and just change the succulent plants in the foreground to bamboo and it would still work for me.

The Detour cover looks just a tad too busy for me and the juxtaposition of thumb and wacky C is unfortunate but love the colors. The Bergman is great and shows what you can do with a lot when its all of a piece whereas Wanda shows how much you can do with a little. Need some time to get my head around the silhouette of Japon. Overall though, an impressive month.

Lloyd lost most of his right hand in an explosion in 1919. That's a prosthetic, and it doesn't have moving parts.

Surely they could have used a different pose, though? Also doesn’t help that his pants right near his hand are very penis-shaped (at least at the resolution my phone is showing).

Here's a weird and very pedantic question about the 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days packaging: any speculation on why the special features are spread across two columns? I can't recall any other release (in the BD-era anyways) that doesn't list them either in one big text block or as single-column bullet points.
