OK, first of all I'm VERY excited by Yi Yi since it's easily one of the best films of the 21st century and the old DVD sucked butt. BUT, I was really hoping that Mulvaney's hint about Edward Yang coming in '06 would mean A Brighter Summer Day, which I've been dying to see since reading about in in Rosenbaum's Essential Cinema. Oh well, my buying this will hopefully help persuade CC into pursuing Yang further.
A bit late perhaps, but the Masculin Feminin booklet is fantastic - a pastiche of the teen pop French magazines of the 60s, with fake ads, retro graphics and columnated essays. And not padded out with fucking stills either.

It is great, I picked that DVD up a week ago and was similarly impressed by the booklet.
And yes, the covers for Yi Yi and Koko: A Talking Gorilla are easily the best covers thus far this year.
I want to go all Highlights Magazine on it, but it looks like the only revision was to cut out Parker Posey's face-- which is hardly an improvement. Oh, and they added that "Copyrighted material" sticker. What's thatabout?
they took some outlines away on other photos too, but I'm in favor of not having a posey close up on the cover, It works better with just the males in the photos. well, it works better with no photos at all, but the way things are, I like the dvdempire one.

You, my friend, have just crossed a line and fallen into a deep chasm of insane unimportant minutiae from which there may perhaps be no pathway back. Somebody throw him a rope!
