Great month of covers imo. Blue Velvet is a little simple but I love the House of Games, The Heiress, and One Sings the Other Doesn't's covers.

I have no real opinion on the Haneke, Denis or Mamet, but I think the others are wonderful. Blue Velvet's is perhaps "blandly inoffensive" but it's got a lovely textural quality that I hope is also highlighted by a digibook of some sort. One Sings the Other Doesn't is ridiculous, but I think it fits the film very much and its got a lovely color palette. The Heiress is conceptually and compositionally brilliant even if its execution is slightly wanting in terms of likeness to either the quality of the fabric or de Havilland (although it's far superior to many of the Cary Grant covers).

Edit: I just look up the higher res picture for The Heiress on the Criterion site and I retract my comments about the fabric quality. It looks great in a higher quality still.

EDIT: I assume it will be a digipack since all of their previous Lynch releases have been digipacks, with booklets that include interviews excerpted from the Lynch on Lynch book in place of an essay.

I don't mind The Heiress cover in and of itself but it doesn't really capture the vibe of the film, which I adore. Then again, I'm not sure how one would achieve that.

I tend to think the Venn diagram of English-speaking Criterion viewers and people who understand that translation is a full circle. Perhaps a blue, green, or even a red one.

I've been so looking forward to Let the Sunshine In, despite the less than stellar reviews (it never got a screening here in Indianapolis). The cover could've been more artsy, sure--but that's a wonderful portrait of Mme Binoche. I'll take it.

Kind of how I feel about it too. I wouldn’t say that a lovely portrait of Binoche is quite a foolproof way to get me to see a movie, but it’s surely not a bad way to try.
