The artwork could be better. Fori nstance... The playboy fold ouyt of marylin monroe directly on the cover, the lemmon as a chick is drooling over her while the other watches with his hands in his pants. Or they could just change the background to red curtaains. Make the lipstick mark on the spine red and take Monroe's top off...souvenir wrote:nice to see it's anamorphic, but that artwork is terrible

Yeah, or it could have a picture of Marilyn where she didn't have lazy-eye, a gigantic head and one breast against a mustard yellow background. Oh and maybe they could have put Billy Wilder's name on the cover somewhere.LightBulbFilm wrote:The artwork could be better. Fori nstance... A very positive review from DVD Movie Central:
Video ***1/2
Not only is it in anamorphic widescreen, but it is a remarkably clean and beautiful black and white transfer from MGM. Images are sharp and well-detailed throughout, with only a couple of VERY minor stretches where the print shows age in the form of some scratches or specks. The disc is free from compression artifacts, grain, shimmer, or other distractions. The range from darks to lights is superb. Marilyn has never looked so beautiful. For that matter, neither have Tony and Jack.

This is really a great release by Sony/MGM. The anamorphic picture looks beautiful and the new extra featurettes are well put together. It's nice to have the older interviews with Jack Lemmon, Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond preserved in the digital format too. I'd love to see something similar for "The Apartment" soon also.
