I’m not sure about the color scheme, but otherwise I really like that Portair cover.

Not entirely crazy about the Come And See cover cause the original poster is so effective, but I really can’t complain since we’re getting such a magnificent release of one of my favorite films.

I think it's kind of cool that they got a new piece from the artist who did the paintings in the film, at least

yes, this is not an actual portrait which appears on the movie "Portrait de la jeune fille en feu"- since they choose a painting I would have loved one of the actual painting from the movie (the second one). I did not seen every movie theaters poster (the poster in France was a photo from the movie with Adel Haenel on it (the fire - dance scene), but it's apparently a painting from an artist (perhaps some painting done for the movie but not actually used in the end? or a real work by the Criterion collection team) ?

I've always wondered why Criterion stopped doing that.

Many of their releases don't have chapter titles anymore.

Probably an artifact of the early dvd (or LD?) era of titling chapters, most studios dropped it when they dropped printing inserts entirely. Criterion probably dropped it because the titles are in the Blu-ray menu, and the dvd market that doesn’t have titles chapters on the disc menus is increasingly small

The original covers of Taste of Cherry and especially The Lady Eve are far superior to the upgraded ones. Marriage Story cover has me rolling.

The Lady Eve, starring Ethel Merman and Michael Sarrazin. It's times like this that I really wish Criterion did the reversible cover thing. On the plus side, The War of the Worlds looks great.

The Lady Eve or Cluny Brown for the worst in recent memory? Similar color schemes too and both haunting.

Taste of Cherry's original cover involving the tree was good and should have been utilized here, though I don't hate this one. War of the Worlds is perfect. The Lady Eve and Marriage Story are so bad I don't want either on my shelf - not as objectively awful, but more repelling than the lazy robot drawing in Cluny Brown's cover.
