I always spend a pretty penny on flash sales, so if that’s a rule it’s lost on me- this will be the first sale where I’m struggling to think of three titles I want to qualify for free shipping. A good problem to have, having finally caught up with must-haves, but a strange feeling.

Just buy 50 copies of In the Mood for Love. You'll be sure to get an email then

Same here. Definitely upgrading Mouchette but after that I already have everything I really want other than pre-orders (Secrets & Lies and Defending Your Life). But I must have free shipping. Luckily, blind buying from Criterion is always fun. To Sleep With Anger was my last blind buy and it turned into a keeper. Last blind buy that wasn't a keeper for me: Blind Chance :D

I usually only buy what I think I'll be in the mood to watch within the next few months. There are still several films I really like a lot that I haven't bought yet because I haven't had a desire to revisit since I first watched them years ago, and with limited (currently zero) shelf space, and an upcoming move within the next year, it just doesn't make sense. I probably won't buy Mouchette for that reason. I like it of course, and it's worth owning, but I know I won't want to watch it anytime soon.

I also have a bizarre personal obsessive-compulsive tendency with Criterions specifically- not other companies- where I feel the need to watch them in order to unwrap, and must unwrap before putting on the shelf, and I don't like to have them hanging around in the unwatched piles the way I don't mind other blu-rays. So this leads me to prioritize these titles, even if I've seen the film recently (meaning I'll be rewatching Smooth Talk again soon despite seeing it only a couple months ago). This probably goes back to when I started collecting and had more pervasive OCD sxs, but there we are.

Smooth Talk is on the list of potential blind buys. The cover alone makes me want to buy it.

Over a week ago I had emailed Mulvaney et al asking if they had any plans to bring back the posters or any other form of artwork to the store (including even collecting the Jason Polan sketches together). Yesterday evening I got a reply, they have no plans in the works regarding the late Polan, but they did include this about the posters:

"We hope to offer posters again through the Criterion.com gift shop sometime later this year, so please stay tuned."

Just buy three baggus instead! I'm in the same boat - Parallax View is the only non-pre-order I'm interested in, so I'll likely have to wait until the next BN sale (assuming, as always, that there will be a next one).

Man, the site is SLOW.

If you have what you need in your wishlist, go directly to the wishlist (I don't have a URL, I just went to it via my browser history from yesterday) - that page moved fast for me, along with adding all of its items in my cart. Checking out will be slow though.

It took several times to refresh before going through. My damage (Fellini Box) is done for this go around

Word logic problem time: I'm 78 points away from a loyalty gift card. If I buy four regular titles for 79 points, opt for free shipping, and use the $10 gift card, do I get the 500-point loyalty reward gift card? Or should I get the loyalty gift card, and then use it and the $10 subscriber gift card together some time down the road?

Got my order through without too much slow down. But they doubled my order, so I guess make sure you check on that after ordering...

The latter, they’ll deduct the $10 and you will still be ~$9 away from the $50 deduction (though I don’t know if these ten-ers are time limited for use, because I don’t get them)

Site's still a bit of a mess. I managed to get an order in but haven't received a confirmation email; when I check the orders page, though, there it is.

A tense few minutes, but got my order through. Half a dozen copies of It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad World. And I’m spent!

The coupons don't expire. I only order every second flash sale on average, and I usually end up using two per sale.

So... It's a Madx24 World? (Not typing that out since it would basically be spam!)

Anyways, I got my order through. I purchased All About Eve, Beauty and the Beast, Bowling for Columbine, Bigger Than Life, The Elephant Man, Man Push Cart, Minding the Gap, Smooth Talk, and Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, making this the most I've ever gotten from a sale in the >5 years I've been participating in them (I think).

Personally I decided that now is as good a time as any to empty out my bank account (figuratively) and buy up almost all of the Dual Format titles I have been lacking. All that I'm missing now are the WCP sets, Frances Ha, King of the Hill, and Persona.

went very light compared to November where I finally pulled the trigger on the Bergman and Varda boxes but I got Trilogy of Life and Jeanne Dielman.
