STEALING. CHEATING. KILLING. WHO SAYS ROMANCE IS DEAD?

In 1993, action movie supremo Tony Scott teamed up with a hot new screenwriter named Quentin Tarantino to bring True Romance to the screen, one of the most beloved and widely-quoted films of the decade.

Elvis-worshipping comic book store employee Clarence Worley (Christian Slater) is minding his own business at a Sonny Chiba triple bill when Alabama Whitman (Patricia Arquette) walks into his life – and from then on, the two are inseparable. Within 24 hours, they’re married and on the run after Clarence is forced to kill Alabama’s possessive, psychopathic pimp. Driving a Cadillac across the country from Detroit to Hollywood, the newlyweds plan to sell off a suitcase full of stolen drugs to fund a new life for themselves... but little do they suspect that the cops and the Mafia are closing in on them. Will they escape and make their dream of a happy ending come true?

Breathtaking action set pieces and unforgettably snappy dialogue combine with a murderers’ row of sensational performances from a stunning ensemble cast in Scott and Tarantino’s blood-soaked, bullet-riddled valentine, finally restored in dazzling 4K with hours of brilliant bonus features.

I'll spring for the 4K then. I haven't watched it in a long time but remember loving it. Tony Scott could direct with his heart on his sleeve and I believe he did so best with this. And this has to be one of the greatest ensemble casts ever, with classic dialogue and action to spare.

I STILL need to find out who is on the mystery commentary for that.

Very excited to have the theatrical cut of this in 4k. Now I hope Sony (or whoever licenses it from them) can give us the original version of Revenge, which has never had a high-quality release.

On top of the announced specs, we've just added another new select scene commentary by Bronson Pinchot, which is as gloriously candid and hilarious as you'd hope it would be.

Just to make sure I understand correctly, is the actual disc shown in 4K or is just the restoration 4K with a regular HD presentation? From the disc description I think we just get the regular HD presentation, but I am not totally sure I"m right about that based on some comments.

I think the release will include both a 4K and a regular Blu-ray disc

The general release 4K Limited & non-Limited editions will only include a 4K disc.
There are 2 Zavvi-exclusive dual-format editions that will include both a 4K disc and Blu-ray disc, but they may be sold out already? as the links to Zavvi provided by Arrow on Facebook no longer work.

Amazing. This career-retrospective interview with him is absolutely phenomenal.

This doesn't seem listed on Arrow's website anymore, and excluding Amazon UK, I can't find it anywhere. Has it nearly sold out already?

Same issue for me, and with Amazon.co.uk geoblocking me from ordering, I managed to make an order on Zavvi despite the BD LE appearing Sold Out so who knows, but it looks like this is probably close to selling out overall.

I pre-ordered the steelbook one at Zavvi first day and it's still listed as "Processing" I contacted them and they gave me what seemed like a generic response about how they're running limited capacity due to Covid. They shipped my copy of Ran (which I already received), so I'm not sure how true that is in relation to them not shipping it yet.

Wouldn't be unprecedented, nor unsurprising given the film's popularity. I don't know if you're referring to the UHD, but as a general rule, if you don't want to miss out on a limited edition Arrow UHD these days, you should preorder it, probably from somewhere other than Amazon

Bought mine on eBay Monday, arrived yesterday and watched last night. I hadn’t seen it in a long time and I was dismayed by the reviews of it’s other releases on Blu so I’m glad I held out for this. It looks incredibly sharp and clean to these eyes.

I subscribe to the theory this is the author’s best work.

It’s absolutely Tarantino’s best. Scott’s 3-film run of Revenge (which he stupidly reedited for the Blu-Ray era), The Last Boy Scout, and this are easily his 3 finest IMO

I give it to The Hunger at one end of the spectrum and Domino at the other, though I also love Last Boy Scout.
