An email just went out saying that all discs including pre-orders are 30% off MSRP for the rest of the month. Isn't this the usual discount though?

interesting amount of extra sales this year. B&N is currently having their 30% off the 4K titles CC has released so far, now this. presumably the July B&N sale will still be ongoing too

I think it’s usually 20% (~$32 for a title with an MSRP of ~$40, now ~$28 for a title with the same price point)

Criterion is apparently following in the steps of A24 and slapping their logo on random merch

The real question is: Will I buy this? :-k

They’ve been doing this kind of thing for as long as I’ve been a member here. That said, the beach towel is hilarious

Filmbros with no chill plopping down in the sand to wax about the Safdies is exactly what I want to attract when I’m relaxing on the beach.

Last time I was at the beach here, three young women on the towel next to mine were non-chalantly talking about the orgy they’d received an invite to on Facebook. Unclear if this towel would help or hurt my chances of being a +1

Of course, that would be the icebreaker. "I'm sorry, we couldn't help but notice the towel. Are you familiar with the famous monologue in Ingmar Bergman's Persona?"

I am aware of Criterion's merch past (I have the generic black Criterion shirt they've been selling for a while, and I've been eyeing the House shirt for just as long), but the beach towel reminded me of some of A24's oddest bits of merchandise that they sell on their online store.

I'll admit: I've always been kind of curious about the candles. The lack of reviews has made "$48 a pop" a very tough thing to pull the trigger on, though.

Criterion really should have gone the full Factory Records route and given the towel a spine number.

You can buy a real buttplug plus a real candle for the same price. Also would still likely have been a good ice breaker for those girls

I think Criterion is missing the market by not going full Vincent Gallo and selling holy relics of Bergman and Tarkovsky.

Probably should've gone with the Anus Films t-shirt to cover all your bases, since beaches be crazy sometimes.

The buttplug/auditor trophy makes sense if you've seen a certain recent A24 film, but it also... doesn't. At least not as some obvious idea for merch for that film. You can pre-order it at a barely-discounted UHD price for half the butt plug trophy cost. Maybe it costs so much because it's made of everything everywh-

I just received an email with a $10 gift certificate code for being a Criterion Channel subscriber, so I assume the flash sale is coming soon.

With the Citizen Kane debacle, Charter subscriber, and now this, I’ve accumulated three $10 off coupons. I’m hoping I can use all of them for one flash sale order.

I've been able to combine coupons in the past, even if just buying one item.

the flash sale is indeed at noon tomorrow. it's important to note that Criterion's free shipping threshold is now $75 instead of $50, in case anyone (like myself) is planning to get very little. as with the past few sales, I expect them to have tons of stock for the newest releases as opposed to previously where we had to all rush online at noon to get the new release of the day of the sale before it sold out an hour or two later

I actually forgot I had a $10 pandemic/customer appreciation coupon from 2020 and already placed my order. (I keep forgetting every time I place an order.) Do these coupons expire?

The email with the last code I received (for being a Criterion Channel subscriber) says, “Your code won’t expire,” so I would think that’s the case for all of their codes.
