VS turns to print with a new project: Vinegar Syndrome Publishing

From the Facebook page:
Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to announce the formation and launch of Vinegar Syndrome Publishing, along with the acquisition of legendary horror-comic publisher, Eibon Press! Eibon co-founder, Stephen Romano will also be taking the lead as Creative Director.
VS Publishing will specialize in original comics as well as comic adaptations and novelizations (both hardback and trade paperback) of some of your favorite films in the VS catalog, along with other genre classics. We're also planning some artwork based coffee table books along with plenty of special merch and other fun surprises.
Additionally, VS Publishing will be reissuing numerous iconic titles from the Eibon catalog, kicking off this spring with a new and updated edition of the four-part comic adaptation of Lucio Fulci’s ZOMBIE. This upcoming edition will be sold both individually, as well as together in a collectable case. Each Eibon re-issue will come complete with all new cover art, new supplemental materials and stellar new packaging done as only VS knows how!
We’re also working on a brand new website to keep you updated on everything happening in the world of VS Publishing, including exclusive art previews, new title drops, and more!
We couldn't be more excited to charge ahead with this new venture and can't wait to share it all with you.

VS is also putting out The Devonsville Terror (1983), which I would say is worth noting--though maybe I just have a soft spot for it because I remember when it used to play on cable all the time in the early '90s. It's a pretty solid witchcraft movie that touches on some feminist and political themes. Lots of rural-New-England-in-autumn atmosphere and local color, somewhat along the lines of Let's Scare Jessica to Death, coupled with melting faces and Donald Pleasance tweezing worms out of his skin. A slight notch above the purely campy schlock that one usually associates with VS.

The French Blu-ray does not have English subtitles.

It's V-Day Weekend. Hardcore and sexploitation titles 50% off.

Notably, this includes two of AGFA's Doris Wishman sets (the third is presumably too recent) and Kani's Viva Erotica.

Damn it, I just bought Viva Erotica the other day because I, clearly it turns out, misread the sale info and thought it said partner labels were not part of the sale.

Edited to Add: I didn't misread the FAQ
What products will be on sale?
150+ hardcore and sexploitation releases will be marked down to 50% off SRP! Special note: discounted products will only include titles from Vinegar Syndrome and Peekarama.
Since they got rid of their staff picks section, the above really does sound like partner labels are excluded from the sale.

Congratulations to Partner Labels Canadian International Pictures and Deaf Crocodile for winning Best New Labels at the Shelf Shock Rewind Awards last night!
To celebrate, their first Blu-ray releases, THE ERNIE GAME and THE UNKNOWN MAN OF SHANDIGOR, are on sale for 50% off of MSRP for the next 24 hours.
Sounds about right. These are both great releases!

Wild Reeds (Altered Innocence. On Blu for the first time, I believe, and limited to 1000 copies)
The Son of the Stars (Deaf Crocodile)
I love the design of Son of the Stars (as I typically do with Deaf Crocodile covers) but I'm gonna be honest, the Wild Reeds looks like one of those cheap romance book covers you'd find on one of those little tables when you enter a local bookstore, maybe that's the idea who knows, my film knowledge is only starting to expand but anyways the cover is not that good. Thank you for reading.

A lot of interesting developments in this month's slate!

Fun City Editions returns with McBride's Breathless, Canadian International Pictures has Denys Arcand's Gina, and a boxed set of films by Carlos Enrique Taboada (Poison for the Fairies, Darker Than Night, Rapiña) among others.

So now for FCE, only Party Girl has been released independently? Strange to supposedly strike up a new deal and not include it on VS' site

Whoever it was that asked for a set of Carlos Enrique Taboada movies in the Mexico Macabre thread had their prayers answered by Vinegar Syndrome! Good time to be a Mexican genre movie fan!

I wanted Indicator to do it, though! :(

I am going to wait a month or two in case Indicator, or another UK label, decides to match or better Vinny's efforts here. Compared to Mexico Macabre, a set of somewhat less interesting films, the supplements on this release are light, and the limited edition packaging for this edition is unlikely to sell out soon. I also reached the free shipping threshold for the month's slate otherwise (and also those items are more likely to sell out), amd the Criterion sale is probably next week, so I feel content to wait.

Well, remember Michael said Indicator want to see first how Mexico Macabre sells before deciding whether to do more so even if the answer is hopefully and likely yes it might not be this soon. But I would prefer a release from them as well and am not going to get this set anytime soon unless the standard edition too depletes to under 1000 in the next 3 months (I've got a list of other labels' discs that I want to get to, too).

He also wrote/directed Tiptoes which seems to have ended his career. Definitely one of the strangest movies I've ever watched and I will forever wish for the 150min. director's cut to appear.
If there ever was a company to "rescue" this cut, it would be Vinegar Syndrome, but my god is Tiptoes one of the most inexplicably-sincere projects I've ever seen. It makes sense that there's a whole hour of footage missing and that it's supposed to be a comedy, because the truncated, dramatic version makes zero sense. I also love the liner notes about the production... Why would the producers care about Kate Beckinsale wearing her "lucky hat" if they were saving so much money, and why would she agree to take a drastic pay cut under such a ridiculous stipulation? What's the story behind this hat - what does it look like, and what are its magic powers? Why doesn't Kate Beckinsale wear it in films directed by her ex-husband? Did it lose its luck? These are all questions that would make for a more interesting movie than Tiptoes, but so would a movie about a feud between a director and his producers turning into a significantly consequential storm because of a hat. Surprised Ryan Murphy hasn't tackled this one yet

Is the standard edition of Christmas Evil officially out-of-print or just temporarily sold out? It's listed as "out of stock" on VS's site, but it's not showing up with their OOP or Going Out of Print titles. I'm wondering if VS will re-stock this or if I should look for it elsewhere.

If it doesn't show up in the OOP or Going Out of Print pages then it's just temporarily sold out until they print more.

unfortunate that both the standard and limited editions of From Beyond have sold out. I waited for reviews because Vinegar Syndrome have ruined more than one 4k release with bizarre visual anomalies (not only Death Wish 2) that distract the viewer from the fine source materials. finally had both the money and the confirmation that it's a good disc, and it's fetching big prices on eBay. hoping that the standard edition comes back in stock soon. (disclaimer: very much don't want to sound like a blu ray dot com forum whiner.)

Isn’t the SE guaranteed to come back in print, given that there was no limited stock quota?

Spotlight/sale on Canadian Int'l this weekend. Everything is 50% off except for their last three (Kanehsatake, Hitman Hart, and Gina).

Limited editions still available for everything except Buster Keaton Rides Again, Forbidden Love, Don't Let the Angels Fall, Amityville Curse, and Hitman Hart.

Amazon suddenly cancelled my order after it was slated to arrive and then postponed three days in a row. Hopefully it's back in stock in time for their 'half-way to black friday' sale..

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it’s back in stock for their ‘Halfway’ flash pre-order this weekend.
