Pleased to see more Joan Crawford. Not pleased to see it still isn’t Humoresque.

One of my favorite things about the making of Land of the Pharaohs was that Faulkner said to Hawks, "I don't know how a pharaoh talks. Is it all right if I write him like a Kentucky colonel?"

That sounds like one of Hawks' better tall tales.

Looney Tunes Collectors Choice Vol 1
Reviewer says not perfect but solid and better than the animation the parent company releases. The screen caps look really good to my eyes

HTF reviews the Looney Tunes Collector's Choice Volume 1... Again some issues and could be better but still a strong presentation. I will probably purchase this and not the Max Fleischer's Superman.

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
Could be:
Baby Face
Little Women
Flying Down to Rio
The Mayor of Hell
Picture Snatcher
Hard to Handle
Lady Killer
Bombshell
Hold Your Man
Dancing Lady
Today We Live
Wild Boys of the Road
Heroes for Sale
She Had to Say Yes
The Keyhole
The Prizefighter and the Lady
My guess is one for the Cagney films and Dancing Lady, since they recently released Our Dancing Daughters. Heroes for Sale, Wild Boys of the Road, and Today We Live have all been on TCM recently and Heroes for Sale, at least, looked to be in pretty good shape.

The Fastest Gun Alive sounds like a winner. The rest sound remarkably skippable.

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
I guess they're committed to getting the remaining Best Picture winners out on Blu-ray. The Broadway Melody isn't as bad as its reputation, though not something I was clamoring for. Cimarron is absolutely dreadful.

Also, I believe the Last Time I Saw Paris is now the second public domain title to come out on Blu via WA

Feltenstein on the latest The Extras podcast said Humoresque will be getting a restoration soon but a release is not around the corner. He makes point that sales have become a factor on what gets released. Poor sales of releases puts the kibosh on releases of a similar nature

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
I have a hard time believing Humoresque wouldn't sell well compared to a lot of the stuff they release, but what do I know. It has Joan Crawford, an Oscar nom, and is generally pretty highly rated. :-k

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
It probably was but purse strings have tightened even more it seems by the parent company. Just look what’s going on with TCM.felipe wrote: Thu Jun 29, 2023 2:05 amIt wasn't a factor before?FrauBlucher wrote: Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:22 pm Feltenstein on the latest The Extras podcast said Humoresque will be getting a restoration soon but a release is not around the corner. Edit: removal of the liar emoji at the top. I have know idea how I included that. Doing things on the Criterion Forum via the phone sucks...

Happy news for all as it means I will stop posting “It’s fine but where’s Humoresque?” every time new titles are announcing in this thread.

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
Finances dictate that they can only release really big sellers such as Du Barry Was A Lady and Hey There, It's Yogi Bear (released one month ago, Amazon best-sellers rank is 6,049).

That's a fair point. Many titles I stare at the titles announced, many of which I have never heard of before, and wonder how many people are possibly buying this films.Gregory wrote: Thu Jun 29, 2023 7:39 pm Finances dictate that they can only release really big sellers such as Du Barry Was A Lady and Hey There, It's Yogi Bear (released one month ago, Amazon best-sellers rank is 6,049).
