Army of Shadows looks to have new stills on their site, so maybe they’ll be upgrading that. Canal is releasing a 4K in Europe in June.

I wonder if we'll see FWWM this soon because the European editions were supposed to be out in late 2023 and already got postponed twice. The first delay probably had to do with there being a fix required for the film's restored master file but now at least the German edition got delayed again until late October which led some people on BR.com to speculate that Criterion asked for everyone else's release to be concurrent with theirs, which if true, is probably because they don't want US-based customers splurge on the French or German steelbooks instead and forego the domestic version. Which, if I'm honest, I might because the French steelbook looks very nice (and I usually do not go for steelbooks!) and I'm not keen on Fred Davis's changes to the theatrical poster's font design etc.

I wonder if any of the reverse has occurred behind the scenes, interested parties requesting Criterion hold off on certain UHD releases until a European alternative gets announced, as well. I wonder if that’s why the La Dolce Vita UHD never got announced despite the new stills.

La Dolce Vita is an anomaly rightswise for Criterion, the UK rights are with Janus Films, but Paramount have the US rights. So I assume that Paramount is holding up a UHD, but Criterion could probably go ahead and release it in the UK.

La Dolce Vita is an anomaly rightswise for Criterion, the UK rights are with Janus Films, but Paramount have the US rights. So I assume that Paramount is holding up a UHD, but Criterion could probably go ahead and release it in the UK.

The rights to La Dolce Vita are all over the place: Paramount in the U.S., Janus in the UK, StudioCanal in Germany, Pathe(I think) in France.

By the way, someone mentioned Dillinger is Dead a little while back. The Criterion DVD is in 1.66, but the 4K restoration seems to be in Academy Ratio. Can anyone elucidate on this?

I really wonder what the holdup is with Real Life. I hope they get an interview with Penelope Spheeris. I saw her talk about the 5 years she spent working with Albert Brooks on Saturday Live Live and said film as giving her first-hand insight into the nature of insanity
