I tried placing an order on Arrow's UK site for their sale and they attempted to charge me tax. Never in my life have I seen a non-US site try to collect tax, what in the world

Amazon UK collects state taxes, though at least they don't collect VAT for US orders. Arrow collects both.

Maybe it's something new for your state? Mine has been hit for a few years that way anyway, since likely around 2020 (that's when Amazon UK seemed to started doing it) or 2022 (when Arrow probably started it up). I don't think Arrow ever has not charged VAT for me.

My state is like Number One Tax Collector in the country, so I'm sure that's what it is. Didn't realize this was the norm, guess I've just been lucky before this with retailers (though I don't remember Amazon.co.uk collecting tax, though I've been getting most of my titles from Rarewaves/eBay/Diabolik, so maybe I just missed it there too), but admittedly haven't ordered direct from Arrow since I moved here. And won't be ordering from them now...

Ticks me off to no end that Arrow charges $45+tax and shipping for their (fabulous in the case of American Gigolo) exclusive cover on their site. With Diabolik charging $32.99 for the (terrible) suit and tie illustration cover, I just cannot possibly justify that kind of upcharge just to have the original poster art on the front.

Shawscope 2 is 50% off from Arrow direct. if I'm in the US and order from the US site, does it ship from the US? debating if I should grab it or if it's gonna have the awful Zavvi packing and get mangled in the mail, in which case it's potentially better till I can get it during a Barnes and Noble 50% off sale

this was gonna be a decider for me, I was gonna order American Gigolo with the wonderful original art, but it's of course already sold out before it's even out. so I'm stuck with the godawful suit and tie cover

I did go ahead and pull the trigger on this cause you can get it for an extra 10% off with the code "ASHLEY" right now. if it's damaged I'll fight with customer service later, awfully silly to pass up at that price. let's hope I don't regret going standard shipping instead of tracked (which is somehow a $10 difference)

Received my Shawscope Vol. 2 set today. Miraculously, it arrived in mint condition which I never expected. However disc 1 (The 36th Chamber of Shaolin) in my copy has a huge scratch from the inner ring to the disc’s edge, so be sure to check your discs once you get yours. Thanks again for the reminder about the sale, Ryan.

Opposite of a deal, it looks like Arrow has once again increased the MSRP of the hard case limited editions to $64.99 US and £39.99 UK

coming here to post the rare positive shipping experience-- Arrow UK posted an order to me the day before yesterday and it showed up earlier today (I live in Vienna, Austria). This would be an incredible turnaround time even if it was a local order, and it's completely unprecedented for a UK order having to go through customs. Also, miraculously, had no duty fees to pay on delivery, which has not been the case with them in the past. Don't know if they're just stepping up their game for the holidays or if this is how they'll be doing things in the future, but I was thrilled!

When was the last time you ordered with them? At least for me in Germany, they’ve been IOSS-compatible (both UK and US stores) at least since 2022 when they did the 12 Monkeys replacement program.

might have been before then that I last got charged import fees, true. but never had them deliver this quickly, even as recently as a couple months ago
