Michael MacKenzie confirmed on social media that they fixed the color space issues affecting the first 20 minutes. The OG audio is included as per the specs. Not my favorite Demme and IMO eclipsed by both Manhunter and Bryan Fuller's Hannibal show, but I might get the regular edition which might actually appear sooner than later.

Reaching out to Willow Maclay was already great but getting Elizabeth Purchell and Caden Mark Gardner for the commentary is just terrific.

LQ feels our Criterion is fine and the upgrade isn't necessary, which means I'm on DiabolikDVD looking at this all day today with a single tear rolling down my cheek

The Criterion is great, but Rarewaves currently has a 10% off promotion with RWMAY10 and so I got this for only slightly over $30. If you decide the upgrade isn't worth it, you'll likely be able to sell the LE for more than you paid once this goes quickly

Just practice saying this until it sounds sincere: "LQ, I don't know how the disc fell on that hammer and shattered into a dozen pieces. I was expressly trying to protect it from hammers."

Arrow/Criterion overlaps usually are best to get both. Arrow for the better 4K (usually with FiM or a slightly stronger transfer) and unique, scholarly extras. Criterion always has extras involving the cast/crew that they probably produced themselves (in this case, they did) but are also worth owning. I've found that the Criterion BD/Arrow 4K pairing has worked for Time Bandits, Fear and Loathing, and some others I don't have interest in but others surely do (the Cronenberg titles)

We're like a much less cool Tracy Letts and Carrie Coon, aren't we? Much less.

Wait for the standard edition and replace the special features Blu-ray in the Criterion release with the Arrow UHD.

Frustrating how many tries it took to nail this, and even then there's still a possibility of a truly definitive version if you could combine this with Criterion's extras. (The commentary track alone was like a gold standard.)
