They laid off some of their staff who work in the physical media division so new deals can't be currently made.

A worthy release, but I believe this is with Sony and they have slowed their licenses, so sadly unlikely unless it was already in motion

I think Terror Vision's Brad Henderson, who has a Paramount deal, and the Kino Insider have both said that there was nothing to worry about with licensing from Paramount and that, to quote Kino Insider, "Things are currently normal."

I thought Kino said that no label was currently able to license Minnie and Moskowitz for some reason. Universal does have prints and DCPs of it. Anchor Bay’s DVD had a Gena Rowlands/Seymour Cassel commentary

Ah, ok I don’t realise (it’s more a wish fulfilment list anyway).

I have the Anchor Bay DVD, but there’s certainly room for improvement.

I wish there was a set of Bukowski adaptations that included this, Crazy Love, and Barfly (which had an excellent WB DVD that was basically ported to a R2 Blu already)
Not familiar with Crazy Love. Will seek it out. It's funny that good-looking dudes always play Bukowski. Rourke is the least like him, but his performance and the film are entertaining nonetheless. Dillon gives a decent, un-showy performance in Factotum. Too bad the film is so flavorless and muted. Gazzara is also nothing like Bukowski, but he exudes the right mix of self-loathing and self-regard. Tales is long overdue for a decent Stateside release, as are many of Ferreri's films.

Edit: removed T̶o̶ B̶e̶ o̶r̶ N̶o̶t̶ t̶o̶ B̶e̶ and changed to Trouble in Paradise

did Criterion lost their rights for "Blue is the Warmest Colour" (La Vie d'Adèle) ? there is a Korean (I think that it's Korean, by Novamedia) Blu-Ray + UHD release.
It's the first time that the movie is released in UHD; but apparently it was filmed in DV 2K, thus it is apparently an 4K upscale (with probably "A.I" said-so enhancement to upscale (like Topaz Video)
But some screenshots looks good on the blu-ray forum thread.

still hoping against hope The Third Man comes from Criterion so I can get all those extras without having to shell out or watch them on the channel. or that we get the dream "loaded" edition of The Other Side of the Wind

Sorry, I meant Trouble in Paradise! I saw the new restoration in Bologna a few years ago, so think it's time for it to finally get upgraded to blu now.

This is the wrong thread for this so I‘ll make it brief. Criterion most likely didn’t lose the rights as their Blu-ray is still in print. International BD/4K rights are totally separate and Novamedia were seemingly allowed to add English subtitles to their edition. This is indeed a 4K upscale made with AI and the film also got a new color grade. It’s unclear whether all this is approved by the director (probably not) because shots like this show the problems of AI usage for a less than perfectly detailed source quite well.

I’d say there’s about a 97% chance The Third Man comes from Lionsgate on 4K.

On a side note, WB said they have “no plans” to release The Searchers on UHD. Does it mean Criterion might handle that one?
