Harlin's best film. Excellent popcorn movie.

Yeah, you'd think they'd either wait for later in the year or have moved it up in the queue last year (and also, if this was one of their first titles, there'd be a lot less dunking on their WB choices versus their actual initial slate)

I saw the film for the first time about half a year ago. I hadn't liked Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger as I found them both pretty mean-spirited and callous, but this film has more warmth and compassion, and a good screenplay by Shane Black. It's a shame this and her other collaboration with Harlin, Cutthroat Island, both flopped because she was a natural action heroine.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, let’s not forget the stellar Demolition Man release

I love this film, too. Not as much as The Last Boy Scout, though

My partner’s biological father was the original screenwriter of Cliffhanger. The entire first 15 minutes or so are totally him, but it completely went off into a different direction. He is a retired attorney who never sold another script. Suing Carolco over what happened probably didn’t help, either

I've always loved Geena Davis, and it's a shame that her two films with Harlin derailed her career (love is blind and all that). Last night I saw Zoë Kravitz's (rather excellent) Blink Twice, in which the entire supporting cast is a "whatever happened to", including Geena Davis as a dotty PA.

I'd guess the damage was much more caused by the expensive flop that was Cutthroat Island, and Long Kiss Goodnight just got caught in the fallout from it. Comparatively on looking at the box office figures on the imdb page Long Kiss Goodnight appears to have made a profit in its international release.

This is also the only other big film I remember seeing Craig Bierko in, although his biggest film role was a couple of years later as the lead in the 1999 remake of Fassbinder's World on a Wire, The Thirteenth Floor (which I'd buy a UHD edition of in a shot Arrow! Hint, hint! )

He was also the lead in Larry David's much maligned Sour Grapes, which... is with Warners. So who knows, maybe Arrow will give you more Bierko than you can shake a stick at

Davis had a long run of commercially disappointing films, including the slight but somewhat charming Speechless and Angie.

Angie was interesting as a latecomer to the "romantic threesome" subgenre of the likes of Moonstruck and The Butcher's Wife! I guess dependable but boring James Gandolfini had no hope when contrasted against that hunk Stephen Rea!

eh, I don't really love Demolition Man, but I did pick up the Arrow UHD, maybe I'll like it more when I watch the UHD.

Is there no blu-ray version of this? Unlike Carlito's Way, it doesn't look like the feature is on the included Blu-ray disc, and I don't see another listing for a blu-ray only

They separately announced UHD and BD editions for the Leone title but not for this, and yes, the BD is only advertised as containing the extras, so it's not promising unless they provide clarification

This is at least the third WB licensed title that is UHD only and I assume the upcoming Jason X and Jason Goes the Hell will also be UHD only. In the previous cases the lack of a Blu-ray was because Shout Factory had already licensed those rights, maybe that is why there is no Blu-ray option for this?
