That’s really exciting. I was just reading an article about Cruise wanting to do things in addition to his recent action films and this should be exciting for that.

Yeah, really curious how he responds to aging. I'm predicting an exit from the MI action world after this next installment and a return to more complex roles like Magnolia

The film will also star Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, John Goodman, and Michael Stuhlbarg. The plot:
The Logline as we know it centers on the most powerful man in the world, who embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.

Cool, didn't think they would ever work together again after The Revenant

I was told the film is also another of the new string of Hollywood productions being shot in Vistavision. Expect a 70mm blow-up of this.

First it was The Brutalist, then The Battle of Batakan Cross, then Bugonia, and now this. I'm guessing it's cheaper to now use VistaVision stock then it is use regular 35mm.

VistaVision is still regular 35mm film, just horizontally fed (and thus uses more negative per frame).

I imagine it’s also what you can do with a Vistavision camera versus a 70mm one. Tarantino intended to shoot the “filming a TV show” sequence of a most recent movie in 70mm, but reneged when he realized he couldn’t use a bunch of lenses and other pieces of equipment with the 70mm camera

John Goodman injured on set (though not during filming), shutting down filming for a few days. I have to imagine that they must be mostly done filming, as it's been going since last November

Fun teaser trailer and poster. Looking forward to another season of me versus the insane anti-AGI crew here

\:D/ No idea what I’m even looking at here. Whatever is a polite 5% to the side of the opposite of the benefit of the doubt, I’ll try to price that in. But nothing makes my expectations plummet like the words Iñárritu and “comedy” in the same sentence.

The poster is great. I'll cop to finding Inarritu absolutely insufferable but aside from that, I don't associate him with comedy either. If he pulls it off though, good for him.

I think Birdman was supposed to be a comedy, if I recall correctly.

Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths was part-comedy as well

Cruise freed from the constraints of megabudget franchise filmmaking is a wonderful thing.

Nobody has the guy shackled to anything, he wants to make those films. I think we'd all love to see another late-90s period though, and perhaps this is the start of a new chapter in the vein of that one.

The premise for this film is now floating around the internet following its first test screening in LA. Digger appears to be about
Premise of film
a Southern-fried oil baron (Cruise) causing a massive oil spill, going insane as a consequence, and becoming convinced that he's destined to save the world
More pressingly (and this has to be some kind of record), people are discussing its ending on social media, something like seven months ahead of its release
