Warning: If you are thinking of buying this film from yesasia http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/c ... 004340738/ (Zoke Culture): DON'T. The image is not too bad, but the English subtitles are awful. I mean really awful.

As far as the film goes: It's very good. The fantastic DOP Hou Yong makes his second film, 13 years after his first, and this film is just gorgeous.

Note: The film is based on a novel by the author Tong Su, who also wrote 'Raise the Red Lantern'.

Let's hope a Korean or Japanese company releases this with good English subtitles.

The subtitles on the Hong Kong release are fine and the image is much better than either of the mainland versions.
