The 4k restoration's grading is... weird. It's not that it's dark, it's that it has elevated blacks that yet have no details, just like Ritrovata used to do 10 years ago with several B&W titles. This isn't very pretty.

Bummer. I vaguely recall some people arguing that Criterion should upgrade their edition to a UHD using this restoration, but I guess it's better they didn't. Did you see the 4K restoration via a DCP or a Blu-ray? FWIW, the credits given by MoMA is that it's a "4K digital restoration by Cinecittà and Cineteca di Bologna."
