I'm guessing the book will be made available as a stand-alone product eventually, maybe within a year or less. It's not surprising Janus / CC is trying to lure a few takers with a rather opulent package, but they have to know they'd make more money with a moderately-priced book release. I'm guessing most of us here would spring for it if they listed it at $45. Think of the recent Talking Heads reissue project - first came the mega-box, all the albums remastered under one roof, but the individual releases untouched. Everyone grumbled. Six months later, bingo. I could buy a newly remastered Buildings and Food without buying, say, Naked. I'm hoping Janus takes a similar approach.

The 'Essential Art House Page Samples' just went up on the CC Store page. Cork it!HerrSchreck wrote: I'd like to console myself saying the book will just be fifty booklets presented in extravagant form, but as it's a coffee table book, there's probably tons of non-booklet photgraphs in there, and there's no guarantee that the pictures will only correspond to the 50 flicks in the box.

It appears that only the films and subtitles are the features on the discs. If this's true, what a waste of cash and opportunity this box is.

It's available (for pre-order) on DDD for $589.
If they include it in their next "20% off" sale I will definitely buy it!

This is what I'd assume, and I'd guess that the (thus far) non-CC titles included in this set will start to appear individually around the same time; those films are otherwise ready to go, so it all comes down to how quickly the set sells.gubbelsj wrote:I'm guessing the book will be made available as a stand-alone product eventually, maybe within a year or less. There is room for a promotion code on their store signup page...
I wonder if they are going to give us a promo code... I'm definitely buying the book, but I'll hold out for the next newsletter.
It says they can sell it to english speaking canada, yet I cant register with my canadian address, when I pick the right country, it doesnt change the states to provinces...
